I naively assumed that keeping batteries in devices was a solved problem. Evidently not. The latch on the battery compartment door is not strong enough to keep the door closed. Or, perhaps, the internal battery contact springs are too strong. This device cannot reliably operate for more than 48 hours without the battery door popping itself open, which kills power to the unit, which obviously prevents the fire place from turning on. A failure mode like this is a show-stopper for something as critical as heat in the winter.

The wiring wasn’t labeled to my novice ability for installing it to the Th and the TP TH ports and if it came in black that would have been great too. But it works plug in play on my majestic fireplace,Love it!

This remote works okay. I'm not sure how accurate the thermostat is and I end up manually turning the unit off and on but that's not a deal killer. My real issue is how quickly the receiver goes through batteries. I'm on the third set in a couple of months. I invested in some rechargeables for it.

Never really worked right. Would still turn on even when the remote is set to off. Then it stopped working completely after about a month of use.

*Edit* I was offered a full refund for my device. Which I appreciate.Purchased in April of 2024, Now in Dec when put to use, device goes through batteries like crazy, in remote and low voltage controller. Currently after all the troubleshooting steps, the remote and controller unit will not communicate. New quality batteries in both units. Stuck with using the switch on the controller to manage my natural gas fireplace.

This produce works as expected; however, the instructions are vague and incomprehensible. The grammar makes no sense. As stated the installation was very easy because of online videos I watch. There are only two wires to connect and the remote paired as soon as I installed the batteries and pressed the power button. The thermostatic feature works well also, but I learned that by accident as the instructions don’t tell how to properly use it. As the temperature dropped throughout the night the fireplace turned on automatically. In conclusion I would say it’s a decent product for the price point.

Brand new batteries in the receiver die after about one week, with absolutely no use at all. Works fine at setup, but unless you want to change the batteries weekly then find another one to buy.

If you want to get rid of a wall thermostate or replace an old remote, this fireplace remote will is ideal and easy to install. My only caviat is that the connecting wire and instructions does not identify how to connect to what pole. However it's just and matter of reversing the wire if it does not work. All in all, I am very satisfied with this purchase and definately recommend it.

Took less than 5 minutes total to install the Batteries in the Reveiver and Remote transmitter connect 2 wires to the gas valve and program / setup the Remote. Great product . The Remote RF frequency is awesome . I was 25-30 feet away and it still turns on the gas valve and operates. Also the temp setting, timers and lock are a whiz. This was better than the $179.00 one I previously bought 8 years ago. I would buy this one again !

Better than the original remote as this displays temp, day and time and can be used as a thermostat. Two wires to unplug old remote receiver and replug same wires onto new unit. Add batteries and after a brief set up of remote it worked. No problem pairing RF remote with receiver.

My old one had batteries left in it for years. I had trouble getting it to work. This one was a great replacement. I highly recommend it.
