Great first impressions. Bought this to have mapping plus fishfinder capability while fishing on very remote lakes in Northern Ontario. The size is perfect for a portable box that travels well. The map clarity is perfect. The map package that comes with this unit is just enough to cover where we're going to go so no need to buy the Canada East maps from Garmin. Setup was a breeze, connecting and registering with Active Captain was a breeze as well. Cant wait to get this thing into use up north in a couple weeks and will report back. Very Excited.

My favorite uses for the 53 CV is the depth finder, the water temperature, the speed and the split screen gives me a great visual of the lake bottom.

I have had fish finders my whole life but never seen one this complicated to install! I really wanted for this to work and am awfully disapointed.

I love the maps on here, easy to use and great for keeping you out of the shallows. I don’t think the fish Finder works. Was just drifting down the river where bank fisherman were catching fish left and right, never heard a peep out of this thing. I checked the alerts, the volume, and read through the entire manual 3 times to make sure I had it set up properly. 2 days worth of fishing on Lake Huron and its tributaries and never a peep. Didn’t even see anything come across the screen. Just the depth and the bottom view. I’m sure it is user error somehow but it really shouldn’t be that difficult to figure out.
