Seems like a very strong a sturdy platform but it arrived missing parts for installation. I’ve sent an email to the manufacturer and will update accordingly. As of now it’s sitting useless in my garage....Update:I contacted Garelick and they responded quickly and got the missing strut sent to me within a matter of days. Product is exactly what I thought it would be and well built / Sturdy. Was just annoyed by the inconvenience of not being able to put it on when I anticipated. Great customer service.

not a "bad" product. But the screws it came with were extremely brittle and stripped easily. The instructions are a "one size fits all" set of instructions that don't reference the installation parts in any real discernible manner. And, it also does not give any instruction to utilize a sealant (3M 5200 was my preference) during the installation into any mounting holes. Also, the ladder secures with a Velcro strap and a bungee cord - really? All in all it will serve it's purpose which was to give my daughter a place to climb back up onto the boat. But at the end of the day I am pretty certain there are better pieces out there.

You have to do a little tube bending to get this to fit - they're not custom produced and all sterns are a little different. I had to devise a block for the top rail bolt but it came out awesome! Very secure and good quality materials. I'm about 230 lbs and I can stand on it. There is a lot of hub-ub about the ladder being difficult to put down and up; but it is really quite simple if you install the stop piece and Velcro strap - and then practice a little.

It seems to be a sturdy design although we haven't had a chance to take it out yet after a professional install. We chose this model because it folded up underneath the platform, not having to worry about it clearing the gunwale trim. The method of stowing the unit leaves much to be desired. A piece of Velcro is provided to secure it to the platform at the front of the platform. Really, Velcro? This leaves the backside to "flop" around unsecured when running the boat. When I contacted Garelick, they sent me back a drawing with an arrow directing me to secure the Velcro at the forefront of the platform (where it is). This was Garelick's answer to my issue. We hope we have resolved by attaching 2 "C" springs at the back to hold the back ends of the ladder in place when underway. Since Garelick obviously was not interested in trying to resolve an engineering oversight, I am writing this review.

I purchased this for my 2001 Alumacraft Trophy 185, and it mounted very easy. I weight in at almost 300 lbs, and it holds up just fine. The only negative thing is the mounting hardware on top of the platform is not counter sunk, and is rough on your feet.

This is an outstanding swim platform. It was easy to mount on my 16.5 ft Lowe fishing machine. And makes boarding a snap with the two step ladder. I was a bit concerned when one of our friends climbed up on it as he weighs 300 lbs but it handled him just fine. Buy it.
