I saw my contractor using one of these so picked one up. I honestly wasn't sure if I'd ever use it, since I'm not handy and I don't touch electrical work on my own. But there have been a few times already that having this has told me whether the issue is the outlet or the item, and they also saved me a great deal of hassle by helping me figure out that an electrical issue at my trailer was as simple as a tripped GCFI. Definitely great to have on hand if you're not handy.

This device is easy to use and is a must for anyone getting into grounding and live in an older home…it lets you know if your ground outlet is working and therefore your grounding mats and sheets will work for you. It does other things I believe, but this is all I needed it for. Inexpensive too!

The analyzer does work, but the display of codes is extremely hard to read because it uses red for dangerous condition, white for no-light, and a faint yellow for indicators. The faint yellow is hard to distinguish from the white. I had to return to the ad in Amazon and enlarge the picture to finally read the code (Looking from the side with the GFCI button): WYW=Open ground; WWY=Open neutral; WWW=Open hot; ROY=Hot/Ground reversed; RYW=Hot/Neutral reversed; WYY=correct).

This handy little gadget is a must have and saved me many trips back and forth to the breaker box. I've replaced many electrical outlets changing to the deco style and used it before and after installing to ensure I did every one correctly, which I did. But because they are small they are easily lost in my garage so that's why I needed to buy this one..they all work the same and do what you need them to do. Don't do electrical without one‼️

This Gardner Bender Circuit Analyzer - Outlet & GFCI Tester is super easy to use. I just plug it into the outlet and the LEDs let me know if there are any of the 5 most common wiring errors or if it is wired correctly. It also tests my GFCI outlets by plugging it into the outlet and pushing the button labeled "Press for GFCI test". This activates the GFCI and then I have to push the outlet reset button. It already helped me find a surge protector that had an open ground. I am happy with this purchase.
