The last garden fork I bought was not as sturdy as I had hoped it would be, and I ended up actually bending a couple of the tines when trying to work in hard ground! It had big thick flat tines, which might have been part of the problem. However, when I saw this pitchfork on Amazon, I noticed that the tines were much finer in size, plus it had a foot piece to help you get good traction when using it. I ordered it and got it quickly, in plenty of time for me to start transplanting irises this fall, as well as turning my compost piles! It came securely packeged, and when I unwrapped it, it was without flaw. It is also comfortable to hold and to dig with, and that extra foot piece really helps you wield this fork well. It is a bit pricey for my taste, but sometimes, you DO get what you pay for! It is strongly made and should last me for decades!

This is an outstanding tool! It's a very modern and functional design...does not look or feel like the pitchforks I used to put up alfalfa with back in the day. This would not be my first choice for an everyday hay pitchfork, but I would choose this all day, any day when it comes to busting up a compacted field or garden. This is excellent as a hand powered roto-tiller.It has five tines that start out as flatbar and taper down to sharp and durable points. The tines are welded at the flat base end to two more pieces of flatbar that are parallel to each other and 90 degrees to the tines. In between those two supports is another flatbar that serves as a place to apply your foot pressure as you dig and rough around in the dirt. The shaft between the handle and the tines is a single metal tube welded to a u-bend metal tube that is then welded to the tine assembly. This is a great design feature because it spreads out the force between the tines, as opposed to if the shaft attached at only the middle of the tine assembly. The handle is placed parallel to the tine assembly. This allows for your hand to be aligned with the work instead of being curled around a shaft. I get better control of the tool this way.I'm very impressed with this tool and have no hesitation to recommend it whole heartily.

We are moving a bunch of flower bulbs this fall so needed a garden fork to help get the job done. I didn't want a wooden handle since I broke my last fork's handle. This garden fork from Ymachray met the requirements. This is a very sturdy fork. It is welded metal at all points and the shaft is solid metal. There is an included bar attached that can be used to get more leverage with your foot to push the tines down into the dirt. It also serves as a fulcrum when you lever back the fork. I was able to get down under flower bulbs with ease and pop them up.The tines are sturdy and get down in the dirt without much effort. There is not a lot of wiggle with the tines so it holds up as you apply leverage to the handle to pop things out of the ground.Since this is pretty heavy to carry around I am not sure I'd recommend it for general use such as turning a compost pile over as you would likely get tired from it's weight. However for more demanding tasks in the garden that require a fork this is a really solid options. The only thing I don't like about the fork is that the handle is plastic. I anticipate this wearing down/breaking over time so I will need to take care to not put too much pressure on the handle itself. With a heavy fork already it seems logical that a metal handle could have been used as well.

This is a rugged, heavy-duty pitchfork cultivator. It's rugged and just tears through my garden. It has a look to it that just says, 'I'm ready to get the job done.' I'm in the middle of turning everything over and getting the garden put to bed for the fall, and this garden fork is a workhorse. The foot placement area is sturdy and large, so I can get my whole weight behind it for stubborn soil. Work well for scooping up piles of weeds and spent veggie foliage for the compost pile too.It will also muck out a horse stall or chicken coop very well. I used it in our barns for a while today to test it out, and it preformed. This is a pretty heavy tool to be used as just a pitchfork to scatter fresh hay bedding in stalls. I prefer my light weight traditional pitchfork for scattering fresh hay. But for gardening or mucking, this has served me very well the last couple of days and should last us a long while.

I moved to Arizona 2 summers ago. I love to garden but this "soil" is like nothing I have ever seen.My neighbor has a beautiful garden and yard while mine is dirt, sand, dead things and rocks. He told me how he works his soil and recommended this tool. it has made turning over the caliche so I could add compost, mulch and other stuff into the soil so much easier. My yard is still not how I want it to be but my back definitely thanks this tool for reducing the number of man hors and sheer force I was previously using!

This garden fork is highly effective for turning over mulch, and for incorporating soil and manure into your garden. Its sturdy design includes a bar for stepping on, which helps drive the fork deeper into the ground to aerate the soil. It's also useful for harvesting root crops such as potatoes, turnips, and carrots. It's a valuable tool for anyone who gardens frequently.

This garden fork is hefty, weighing in at about 7 lbs. It's welded at all the joints and finished with a black coating. The tines are a bit longer than 12" and the above ground part is about 30" to the end of handle. This will definitely add to the workout that gardening can provide.
