This is our second composter from D.F. Omer. We LOVE their products. We have tried others but they just don't compare. This composter is big enough to allow for easy turning, keeping our compost free from unwanted pests, odors and compacting. They are well made, fairly easy to assemble and they hold up well to the elements.

Bought the Garden Composter Bin made from recycled plastic because it was from recycled plastic. I almost bought a metal composter, but they had some issues too and were much heavier.This Garden Composter was pretty easy to put together and I could carry it to where I wanted it after assembly. It is square and I prefer circular for the job. It has quite a gap at the top so when there is a lot of rain, my compost pile will probably be too soggy. It's big enough and the company thought about where they were getting their plastic. Working so far

I usually like to wait until I've used something for awhile before I write a review. I've been using this composter for nearly a year and I it's worked very well. There are a few considerations that some may not like, and for others it won't matter (which is my category). So here's what I think.I've seen where some say the plastic is flimsy; I don't feel that is is. No, it's not super heavyweight, but it's held up very well for the year outdoors in the elements (full sun, rain, snow, freezes).Putting it together wasn't hard, but you do have to saw open the little doors before installing them. A small saw works well. A bit of a pain, but you only have to do it once.Holds plenty of yard waste, Although since I've expanded my garden and may need a second one!The top is a split design that you could put a lock of some type on, if you are bothered by raccoons. I do have squirrels, but no raccoons or dogs, so I can't speak to that. The squirrels haven't bothered it.Shovels or a pitchfork would be awkward to use for tossing the materials in the bin. I bought a compost auger here on Amazon and it works wonderfully well for mixing the contents.The doors for removing the finished compost could be bigger, but they do work for it. I also remove some of the finished compost from the top.All in all, I am very happy with my purchase, and I do recommend this compost bin.

My initial impression is whether this would be worth the money, as I was thinking of repurposing my old garbage bin, etc. I had less success with other techniques like 5 gal bucket, worm towers. To my surprise, this not only generated compost but did it pretty quick.Pros:- Easy to assemble.- Nicely ventilated, yet keeps odor out.- It does compost, unlike other compost bins in market which might go eitherways.- Decent size. I have to tell though if you're adding lawn clippings, this can fill up pretty fast (4-5 cuttings), so get an extension attachment if you have lot of lawn and planning to compost the clippings.Pro-tip: Buy a tumbleweed compost aerator to help your compost, you'll not regret it.Cons:- Not great of an instruction manual to assemble, but easy to assemble nonetheless.- If you want to have a detachable bottom lid (to harvest compost from bottom), you have to sweat a lot, since you have to cut through plastic. But this is an optional attachment, I decided to add it for my convinence.- Ok-ishly sturdy, but sturdiness fit the purpose.Happy Composting, and go-green.

This bin style compost bin is perfect size for a 1/3 acre backyard with grass, fruit trees and lawn as well as handles wet food waste from family of three adults. It has a spartan like appearance, but works well for us. We inserted an underlay to prevent subterranean type rodent invasion and the sturdy secure latch on top of bin stops other rodent access! Very light so easy to move if/when neccessary and has side ports that allow easy access to withdraw composted by product as needed. Comes in parts, 5 year old could assemble! All in all great value, does what I wanted and keeps backyard grass Mulch and fruit tree cuttings contained.

Compost bin seems a bit pricey for what you get. I’ve had other bins that were easier to assemble, less costly and more durable. Having said that, I think this unit will work for me. It will be weeks before we know how well it composts, and a lot is on me to feed it properly and mixing contents regularly. My three biggest concerns with this unit:- It arrived damaged: The lift handle on one of the top doors was broken in two places. This is because the unit is shipped “knocked down” into panels, strapped together, and shipped in a flat box. There is no additional padding or cushion provided so the contents will bounce around during shipment, even strapped together. When I emptied the contents from the box, the two broken pieces fell out first. The hinged door was taking the beating since it was on top of the bundle. VERY disappointing to say the least. In spite of the broken handle, it seemed too much effort to repack and return, so went ahead with assembly. That is my next concern...- Assembly instructions very poor: Other reviewers commented on this and they are correct. None are included in the box and you must go online to get them. Instructions are available as drawings or photographs, but neither are clear enough to understand how the side panels are tabbed together. Drawings aren’t clear and photos are black and white and grainy when you zoom in. If you aren’t careful, it is easy to push the tab of one panel through the slot of the other panel. It’s not supposed to go all the way through, and if you mess this up, it is difficult to get the tab to release to realign and try again. The bin is square so you have four panels (sides) each with four tabs and four slots. To be fair, you can get this on the first try if you are aware of the tab alignment issues. It took me a couple of try’s on the first panel, then the rest went quickly with no further issues.- The unit needs to sit absolutely level or the hinged pair of access doors on top don’t close well, and wind can flip either or both of them open If they aren’t completely closed. It’s not a big concern, but annoying. The unit is pretty flimsy compared to others I have previously owned, and racking the unit until everything aligns is easy, then the doors will close with no extra effort. However, that process must be repeated fairly often.On the positive side, it is the largest bin I’ve owned and is an efficient design. A lot of access potential at the base for emptying contents; two doors are provided that you can locate on any of the four sides. And there is a lot of ventilation available. If asked if I would buy again, I honestly don’t know. I do think the unit is pricey for what you get, but having put one together now, assembling another will be a no-brainer. My biggest concern is shipping. Without additional padding in the box, it is almost certain the rigors of shipping will leave me with another damaged unit.
