I thought it would have been bigger, and I would have made the slots to put the compost in a bit bigger.

Just put mine together yesterday. My bf helped so that sped things up as some of the assembly can be ackward for one person. I had a bit of a laugh after reading all the reviews because I found the instructions easy to follow and overall found the composter pretty intuitive to put together - but follow the instructions - the ends attach to the door frame (leave the doors off) and you build the panels around that. We opted to reverse the screws so the nuts are on the outside which made tightening them easier and will probably further deter critters from possible invasion.I haven't made compost yet but I will come back to follow up on it's effectiveness. We are in unseasonably warm temperatures for winter so hopefully I'll have some ready for planting my veggies!

I've had this one for a while now, and it's still going strong. There's a crack in one of the sliding doors, which appeared after one winter, but it does absolutely nothing to the effectiveness of the unit. Therefore, I can attest to the durability. Speaking of winter, the doors do freeze shut during that season, so unless the composter is sheltered from all things cold and wet, the likelihood of adding to it during winter is slim to none. Not that anything would break down in the cold anyway. Otherwise, it works well enough. Getting the compost out requires a little preplanning, insomuch that laying out a tarp and dumping whatever you need out seems to be the easiest method I've found, but to each their own on that one. For what it's worth, I'd get another of these if my current one falls apart someday.

I'm a 78 years old woman and not particularly handy. It took me 90 minutes to assemble and only that long because I made one mistake. True, the instructions are not particularly helpful, but a YouTube video was very helpful. Attach the panel with the door first onto the side panels to the sections that have 3 holes. Then attach all but the last 2 panels. Insert the center piece and then attach the last 2 panels. Just be sure to check that you have screwed in all 7 screws before attaching the subsequent panels. That was my mistake. I missed 2 and had to take out 2 panels. I could have gotten those screws in with a helper but I was alone. The legs are so simple, you don't need instructions. Now just have to let nature do its job.

I am really happy with this compost bin which I have been using for the past six months.ASSEMBLYVery easy to assemble although a few screws were awkward to tighten because of the angle.DESIGNIt is just right, in my opinion. The cylindrical shape, sturdy stand, durable construction material, slits for aeration, double chamber and sliding door ensure that it is both functional and efficient.COMPOSTINGWe were not very diligent in ensuring that vegetables and fruits were chopped finely. With rough, large chops one chamber took about 4 months to compost under tropical conditions. As the two chambers are filled the bin does become rather heavy. As a woman of medium build, I found it difficult to turn without assistance so the task fell almost entirely to my hubby.EMPTYING THE BINThe fact that the bin can be turned so that the door faces down made for convenient emptying. It was however a two person job because of the weight of the bin at full capacity. One of us held the bin down while the other scraped out and emptied the chamber.I would suggest setting it up near your garden hose, if possible, for cleaning/maintenance purposes, as there is leeching of liquid from the compost.

Easy Assembly - only trouble was I didn't have enough screws and I couldn't find an exact match at the hardware store. But I contacted the seller and got a prompt polite response and what I needed arrived in a week. In the meantime, I used the other side to get started - the side where all the panels were snugly attached. I expected a real assembly hassle from the scary reviews, but the pieces snap together before you have to add the screws. And the inner panel was pretty easy, too. Try it both ways before locking it in. It fits better one way with the 'teeth' of the circle fitting into the panel links. I actually didn't find the videos added any info, but I watched them before assembling. I counted everything first and had my screwdriver handy. I relied on the images in the booklet. Yes, there were unanswered questions, but pretty easy to figure out what works best. It did take me a few hours, but I did it on my own and took a few breaks - I didn't need extra help - and I'm a senior citizen - I'm not particularly handy or mechanical. So, if I can do it, I'm sure you'll be fine. All you need is a little patience.I love the look and operation of the composter. To address some concerns I read about: I don't need a handle to turn the barrel. The baffles create easy places for a handhold. Also I read complaints of the small openings. I was concerned that the openings were as pictured with the panels slid halfway off. I didn't know until I opened the box that you can slide the panels all the way out. The full opening is as tall as one panel's width and as long as half the barrel. (See photos of the full opening) Not as big an opening as the open barrel I was using before, but it's functional. As to water dripping out, consider that you might not have the right mix of green to brown stuff. Not enough leaves or paper perhaps? Anyway, I've tried getting the barrel to leak and it wouldn't. It's pretty well sealed. I love the steam that greets me when I open it to check on it - showing it's working! It works much quicker than the open air model I used before. And I love having the second half available to start a new batch while waiting for the first one to finish.A LOT of families are composting now and many models are out of stock. I did a lot of research and this one is highly rated. It is priced well above where it was priced before the pandemic. But I was so happy to find this model in stock; Lowe's is still out of them. And the price seemed pretty fair enough, especially when I realized assembly, although time-consuming, really wasn't difficult.I'm very happy with this composter and bet you'll love it, too.

This review is a response to any of the negative reviews that complain about the assembly.Assembly is time consuming because of the large number of screws involved in each panel, but it is very simple if you follow the steps listed on this Amazon product page.I am not known as being handy, nor am I an engineer or something and had no problem following the simple steps to get it assembled. I used a screwdriver and a socket set and it took me a couple of hours. The only point I had any confusion was with the middle divider where I just wasn’t sure I was putting it in correctly because while other reviews mention that there are small gaps between the sections, I wasn’t sure if my gaps were larger than theirs and wasn’t sure if it would be a tight enough fit after I put the last few panels on. To ease my worry I watched the videos on this product page of how they were putting it in, made sure it lined up with the groove it was supposed to go in and then finally just trusted the process of putting the last pieces in place. I was happy with the result as it all fit snuggly together so it couldn’t be pushed out of place and the small gaps ended up being no bigger than those pictured in other reviews.I am new to composting, so will update the review as I get a chance to use the device, but thus far I like how sturdy it feels and like how the doors are two pieces rather than one as is the case with some of the other similarly priced models.Filling it for the first time went ‘okay’ but not perfect as I dumped a bunch of the dry leaves I was putting in on the ground since the entry point on this is small, but I feel it will get easier as I find the best method.
