I wore down the blade on my previous Garant shovel after 13 years of hard use in northern Utah winters. People complain about it being too heavy, but I really like the way it digs down into crusty snow and ice. I'll take a good steel shovel blade every time over plastic or aluminum.

I purchased a Garant 24” Snow Pusher 5+ years ago. It was made of aluminum with a steel “skid strip” (critical feature) on the leading edge of the shovel. It worked perfectly, but the rivets holding the strip to the shovel eventually wore down and the strip fell off. Without that, the shovel was a pain to push over the concrete, because the soft aluminum kept hanging up on my driveway. No problem … I bought what I thought was an exact replacement. Not so. The listing for the new one didn’t mention that the entire shovel was made from steel. It weighs a ton. No problem for some users, but it isn’t acceptable for the way I use the shovel.I returned it and ate about $15 in the whole transaction. Lesson learned.

Well, this doesn't shovel snow, it merely pushes it, but that it does very well. It's heavier than the more common poly pushers, but the weight helps move the snow. It's also able to push down into the concrete level. It's too heavy and, unwieldy for lifting, but you can turn the snow over. For shoveling, Garant's Alpine 'D" show shovel is a smaller, but more efficient show shovel. Used together, you have two of the most efficient, and well made snow removal tools.

I bought this to replace another steel snow shovel that just plain wore out from all the snow this year. The build and quality are very good, but I was surprised how heavy this shovel is. Thick steel should wear very long, but is a bit heavy for "shoveling", but should be O.K. as a snow "pusher".

This is a very well-built shovel, one that I am sure will give many years of excellent service. We had several heavy snowfalls after I received this item and I have no complaints about its sturdiness and ability to push large amounts of snow. The heavy steel blade easily clears snow down to the asphalt or concrete and can scrape ice better than any shovel I've ever owned. There is absolutely no comparison between this shovel and those puny, poly-bladed ones with a thin strip of metal at the edge of the blade. If there is anything negative to say about it, it would have to be about the weight, but it weighs so much because of how well it is built. I couldn't be happier with it.

The only problem I had was it had a bent corner when I got it. Not sure how the corner got bent because the box it was in was not damaged at all. This snow pusher does a good job and should last for years.

We picked this up after my 21 year old steel snow pusher finally gave up the ghost. I got the chance to use the pusher in an ice/snow event ~4 inches. I tried my son's plastic/aluminum shovel which took multiple passes to remove most of the ice/snow. Then I got out the pusher - and was able to clear the ice/snow in one sweep. The pusher works best when you have at least a quarter inch of ice and do NOT try to lift and throw with this tool. First, the pusher is fairly heavy. Second the design will not support throwing - about half will slide off unless you're really careful. As for the plastic/aluminum blades sold in most hardwares, those are toys and not designed to last.Be a little careful, the edges are sharp as my wife learned when she cut her self by picking it up by the reinforcing support.Tool Time fans - this is the shovel Tim Allen would recommend and so do I!
