These treats are great for the summer. Since my horses are boarded in a field 24/7 I can't give them a himalayan salt lick, which is what I prefer for them. These treats allow me to give them extra electrolytes in the warmer months when they need them.

They might work better for you but here are my reasons that they did not work for me.-The listing mentions "crunchy", they are VERY hard and my old guy with few teeth can't eat them- too hard-I'm not sure they are low sugar as "cane sugar" is the 4th ingredient and #1 is flour, which are carbs.-The amounts of electrolytes are very lowI would think these would be healthier than a regular treat if your horse has good teeth, but I would not depend on the amount of electrolytes in a treat to actually solve any problemsOn the positive side, they are made in the USA

This is a smaller bag of horse treats. The treats themselves are a medium size. They are more flat and in the shape of hearts. The texture is very hard and crunchy. This isn’t a treat that is easy to break apart cleanly if you need to do so. They are appropriate for my minis and horses.Given the very cold winter weather currently, I have been enjoying giving these to my horses. I think the small amount of electrolytes must be helpful. They of course have unfrozen water, but I think as a treat and with an added benefit, they are a nice option. The horses have happily eaten them without any pickiness.

My draft horse recently went through some changes with her health and weight and these have been a good source of hydration for her. She's a picky eater outside of the usual hay but she ate these with no problem. The do smell good from a human perspective and she is a fan of them now. We give her a few of them every other day and they seem to be doing her pretty good as far as hydration goes. Very great brand. Gallagher never let me down so far so I would definitely recommend them to all horse owners.

12 oz doesn't go very far when horses are concerned, but I figured these are more of a supplement which can be given in treat format rather than an "everyday" treat that you give your horse by the handful. The guaranteed analysis wasn't posted on the product listing at the time of order or review. Once I received the package I realized that the actual electrolyte content is very low; if your goal is to feed electrolytes you'd be better off giving a single scoop of an electrolyte powder supplement than this entire bag of treats. So these really could be fed in the same quantities as "everyday" treats (if your pocketbook allows such a thing!) without an issue. My horse did like the flavor, so there's that, but the value seems very low.

I worry about my gelding electrolyte levels because every time he’s had bloodwork they are a bit low. I think these treats are an awesome way to give him a little boost. They are alfalfa flavored and he seems to like the taste. Made in America with American ingredients.
