The readings were 6-10A lower than the markings on wheels of two brands, three hardnesses.

I am an adhesives engineer and often need to measure the hardness of soft things like rubber or foam. The Gain Express Shore A tester is everything I could hope for:1) It comes with a nice protective case for travel and transportation2) It is powered by a common size watch battery3) It zeros easily and stays zeroed for a long time4) It is highly repeatable compared to the old analog testersI spent the last week testing cast urethane rubbers which are somewhere between 50 and 80 A hardness, and it clearly helped me identify undercured material. The tool saved me a bunch of analysis time and was a bargain price, considering how nice it is.

Works perfectly for prepping the tires on my son's dirt track race kart. I tested it at the track against my buddy's $250 unit and I was 1 duro off. I'll take that all day long.

Bought this as a quick comparison and quality check on some plastic parts I make for sports use. I have been using a very high tech tester at work and this is within +/- 2 from it. For the price this thing is much better than I ever expected.

I bought this to measure Skateboard Wheel hardness. Most manufacturers have the hardness listed on their sites or on the wheel itself. I have seen a swing of up to 10 pts based on Manufacturer ratings, and in most cases 2-3 pts. I have found myself rounding up on most measurements. What I do is not critical and more for information, but for skateboard wheels, I am finding this tool not to be as accurate as I would like, but close enough to understand the range I am skating.

This Instrument, checked against a 500.00 dollar desk style unit is Right On. Purchased to measure tire 'hardness' mostly for motorcycle and auto racing purposes......difference between cold and normal operating temps and extreme operating temperature hardness.....extreme as in hard braking, hot ambient air temps etc. Useful and informative. Easy to use. SHORE Type A proper unit for this application. Just purchase it.
