I have tried many over the door hooks. With most of them, you can't close the door. These are thin enough, so you can. I have only used them indoors, so I can't comment on whether they're suitable for exterior application.

The Funrous Over The Door Hooks for hanging seasonal items worked well and did the job. Where we live holes in the door are not an option to create hanging support. They do need to be removed if your not hanging anything on them. If you don't they will bump the door frame from time to time. No problem because they are easy to set in place and take down.

Using these to hang a white board on the door of my home office. They hold the weight great despite appearance of small hook area, but the over-the-door part is a bit too wide on my standard door and creates a slight issues closing the door. It will usually close if I’m careful and keep the side next to door jamb pushed flush with the door but once in awhile I have to adjust if it gets moved and becomes flush with other side of door instead. See photos of flush vs not flush. Might be designed for a wider cubicle wall than a standard house door. Gotten used to it now and it gets the job done.

I have a camper van built on a Ram Promaster chassis. It’s been so hot this summer it’s miserable trying to sleep in it so I wanted to put up some black out curtains to close off the cab of the van so the living area would stay cooler. Could not find an easy way to hang the curtains until I came across these hooks - they’re wide enough that they fit perfectly over the lip of the shelf above the cab and strong enough that they easily hold the insulated curtains!

The size of these hooks is just right for the hole in paper wall calendars. Mine is on the inside of the kitchen door leading to the garage so I can enjoy the pictures, as if it were on a wall (my kitchen doesn't have much wall space). It hangs at just the right height for writing appointments on the dates. Well made, nice to have both black and silver. Very pleased.
