I purchased these little “ fly-eyes” from Oriental Trading several times between 15 and 20 years ago. They were well made with crisp, clear lenses and faceting, and adults and children alike were very amused by them. Fast-forward to May of 2024, and I thought I had found the same thing on Amazon— they looked the same, anyway. Upon receiving the package of 12, I found that not a single one was worth anything! Looking into them, you can see that they are poorly cut and quite blurry. These “fly-eyes” are, quite simplly, junk! I do see that there is an Oriental Trading label on the bag, so the current poor reviews on the Oriental Trading site refer to these same ones. What a shame to have taken a delightful toy and turned it into something only fit for the trash can.

I used these for a Girl Scout badge. They were ok but not the quality I expected.

This product was issued to young readers during a summer reading program. It enabled them to take something home and share it with their family to explain how a but might view things. It turns everything into your personal kalidascope. Nature is beautiful.

Neither kids nor adults found these to be fun or useful. I ended up using a pair of pliers and breaking off the cheap plastic outside and there is a clear prismatic lens at the front that is fun, alone or inside a toilet paper tube. After a half-hour of frustration. Provided a an educational opportunity in demonstrating cheap Chinese manufacturing and really bad quality control. Each piece is different and suffers from a different defect. Junk would elevate this stuff to status it does not deserve. Shatters easily, pieces are sharp.

These fit inside of my pinata. Kids loved getting something other then candy. Very sturdy as well as none broke when hitting the pinata.

Solid, well made for the price. Would be a great idea for goody bags or stocking stuffers. Not all the prism faces are the same, so there are different "effects".

I bought these for my three-year-old's birthday to be used as party favors. None of the kids really took any interest in it. They kind of just threw them on the ground and played with the whirlygigs that I also gave instead.Later on, I would try to encourage my son and show him how neat it was to look through these but he wasn't buying it.They're quite durable though. After being thrown on the ground and rolling around, they still don't break. They do have an uncanny talent for getting under my feet right when my arms are full.
