About this item

  • One Touch Operations
  • Reducing Oil Changing Time and Expense
  • Eliminate Stripped Threads
  • No More Contact with Hot Oil
  • No Messy Hands or Clothes

The size of engine oil drain valve is 16 millimeters - 1.5. Used to drain engine oil with the touch of a finger and eliminates stripped threads. It replaces drain plug for quick, easy, clean oil change. It is also ideal for drawing small sample of oil for oil analysis. Helps to avoid contact with hot oil and prevents hands and clothes from getting messed up.

No brainer purchase. Open and close the valve. No mess to clean, smooth fluid flow out the nozzle.I didn't install the safety clip and it's still secure over almost 50K miles driving everywhere.

It only took me a year and a half to strip my oil plug. Granted, they'll probably last a lifetime if properly handled, but I'm not a mechanic so I don't have all the right tools+equipment. I was always cramped under the car, at bad angles using a 12 point socket. Luckily I had the foresight to have stripped it when I was replacing it with this! I was able to get it off by borrowing my neighbor's 6 point socket and then I installed this valve. It doesn't leak, oil changes are much faster and not such an ordeal anymore. I still have to lift my car but some might not (esp. trucks/suvs). I'm not one to pay for convenience (I'd rather work harder than smarter) but this is totally worth it.If you're considering it, stop it and buy it.

This is the best thing I've ever done to a car. No more busted knuckles, no more stripped threads, no more hot dirty oil in your face! And best of all, no more dealing with expensive dealerships or shady lube franchises!! It doesn't change your car at all, and you can always put the OEM drain bolt back in if you want to (but you won't).I read about these on the Subaru subreddit and enough people swore by them that I put one in my brand new 17 Impreza during my 1st oil change. Install was easier than replacing the OEM drain bolt, just hand tighten - no crush washers, no lubing the threads, nothing! When the time came for my 2nd oil change, I barely got my hands dirty! Just place your drain pan and turn the valve open. The oil shoots out just like normal. Then when it's empty you just turn the valve closed. It's really that easy, and there was no mess!I'm going to put one of these on every car I own from now on. I'm amazed that every mechanic I've talked to has never heard of them.

My 2017 Forester OEM drain plug was TIGHT, angles tough, and the shoulders stripped when removing. A mechanic friend said that excessive retightening seems to happen with some vehicles, especially Subarus. Glad I'd gotten the Fumoto drain valve and had it ready. Easy to install and it makes every oil change easier with far less mess. Does drain a bit slower, but not a huge deal. Yes, it might retain a tablespoon or two of old oil in the pan but,, again I don't see this as a huge issue if you change oil at 6,000 mi or thereabouts. The drain is recessed above the plastic skid plate and protected by a cover. Plus, I am not hard core off-road so I figure almost zero chance this could be damaged or suffer an accidental opening.

As a person who does a majority of their own oil changes (Sometimes it's too cold in the upper states to go outside to change the oil) this is an absolute live saver. The days of lifting up the car to use a 13mm wrench to break open the drain plug just to burn your hands as the oil comes pouring out missing the drain pan by a couple of feet are behind me now. I simply line up the drain pan somewhere in the vicinity of where I predict the oil might come out and I slowly open the lever to release the used oil. The oil flow is definitely slower than if you didn't have a valve on there but the trade off is well worth it. Not to mention that you are probably saving your oil pan by not having to strip the threads on it by over tightening it every time because you are afraid of oil leaking out slowly. I recommend this for everyone who changes their own oil. I'd also recommend you notifying anyone that works on your car that you have this valve because I've had a technician throw mine in the trash before because he wasn't sure what it was. Long story short he replaced it with a traditional drain plug and tried charging me for it. I let him know that I had this valve on it and he pulled it out of the trash saying "So that's what it was." 5/5

I have installed a Fumoto valve on both a 2010 Toyota Highlander and a 2012 Subaru Outback. Both valves were easy to install and have functioned properly according to the manufacturers claims. Here are my overall comments:1. Easy to install – takes about 5-10 minutes2. Speeds up oil change time – no more issues with unscrewing3. Incredibly hard to accidently open, but manufacturer does sell protective caps4. Allows you to take small oil samples instead of dumping your entire oil panTips:1. Put oil on the supplied gasket to ensure a strong seal2. Make sure your initial installation is tight and consider putting a paper towel below the car to identify any spotting that may occur3. Do your own oil changes – it’s cheaper and some quicky oil change places don’t know what a fumoto valve is.

If you do your own oil changes, this thing is really quite essential because in most cars, it removes the need to lift up the car, use ramps, etc in order to drain the engine oil. Provided you've gotten the right size for your car, this installs easily and works exactly as expected. I have no concerns about it accidentally opening (I might be more concerned if my car were constantly used in off-road driving). I really only have two minor complaints, neither of which matter to me, but may be important to you.First, the length of the bolt may or may not match your factory drain pan bolt. If your factory bolt is shorter, there is some concern that you may be leaving oil un-drained in your drain pan. In my case, it was only marginally different. I know people have modified their valves by adding channels to help oil drain. Before you install, check lengths and decide whether to proceed with the install or not.The other concern is that because the design, you can't really use a torque wrench to attach the valve. I pretty much just cranked it on there and tested for leaks by starting the car. If you're an absolute perfectionist, that may not be ideal. For me, neither was really an issue.
