What Are Serrated Flanged Hexagon Nuts?

Serrated Flanged Hexagon Nuts are ideal for applications under vibration. The serrated flange prevents the nut becoming loose by biting into the surface of the mating assembly. Serrated Flanged Nuts can be used as an alternative to a Hexagon Nut and Anti-Vibration Washer, reducing the part count of the assembly. This approach is ideal when trying to achieve a value-engineered solution.
Flanged Hexagon Nuts, a non-serrated variant of this component, are also available.

Materials

Serrated Flanged Hexagon Nuts are available in A2 and A4 Stainless Steel as standard. Specialist finishes such as FullerKreg Chemical Matte Black Coatings are also available.

M6 Serrated Flanged Hexagon Nuts (DIN 6923) - A2 Stainless Steel Description

These flange locknuts have good chemical resistance and may be mildly magnetic.
They have serrations that grip the material surface instead of the threads for easy installation and mild vibration resistance.
The flange distributes pressure where the nut meets the material surface, eliminating the need for a separate washer. Height includes the flange.
Metric 18-8 stainless steel is also known as A2 stainless steel.

Use it to secure the end of six 8mm bolts on the rear wheel dropouts on a jumper bike. These are low profile enough so allows for enough clearance for hub on drive side and disc rotor on non drive side. OEM just had the 8mmx15 bolts, no nuts, but the bike takes too much of a beating so went with an 8mm x 20 bolt and these nuts instead, and now it feels like a way more solid set up.
