About this item

  • Made from walnut shells and non-toxic materials
  • No sweat if you're allergic to nuts, these products won't cause a reaction

Ever notice that walnuts* look like little brains? Pretty cool. What’s more impressive is that their shells work as a natural abrasive to scrub surfaces without scratching. Now that’s smart.

I originally found these scouring pads at a local hardware store. When I wanted to restock, I discovered that the store discontinued selling them, but luckily I found them on Amazon. They're effective scrubbers, and the best thing is they minimize contributing to microplastics. Originally I had thought they were plastic-free, but the packaging clarifies that they are made from walnut shells and recycled water bottles (% not specified).

I’ve been using my first walnut scouring pad over 2 months & it’s still fully functional AND never required bleaching or microwaving to eliminate odor & bacteria. Extremely happy with product on all counts—an excellent environmental solution to everyday problem. Stop contributing to ocean micro plastics with these better sponge & scrubber alternatives.

Very durable. Can be washed in dishwasher and holds up for weeks. Works great on all materials. I still use steel for some copper, aluminum, and glass bakeware cleaning but this my go to for everyday use.I compost these directly into compost pile or compost bin. Breakdown probably in years maybe less depending on how used it is.I cut mine in half to get more use out of them. Have these in Subscribe and Save. Highly recommend. Works easily as well as Scotch brand plastic products.

Love these. Great not to be using plastic, work well, flexible for getting into awkward corners. Last a reasonably long time. The best natural product for this use that I have so far come across.

Was curious so I had to try them. I am so glad I did! They seem to last so much longer than the pads I previously used. I have been using one of these for over 3 weeks now, and it is just like it was when it was new. Three came to a package and it will be a very long time before I need to buy more. They clean my skillets and utensils well and easily rinse, so there is no food sitting there getting smelly or germy. There is no danger of scratching on non-stick cookware.

These scrubbers are great. I especially appreciate their scrubbiness on the parts to my juicer. They seem to do very well on strainer-type kitchen gear, which is tough to achieve. Also handle pots just fine.I also really like that they are (allegedly) compostable and not made of plastic. I tossed in compost pile. Will report back.----Reporting back as promised. I've attached a photo of the scrubbers that I unearthed from the compost pile after being buried for several months. They do not appear to be degrading, like, at all. So I went to the company's web site and discovered that in addition to the walnut shells, the scrubbers also contain plastic. Furthermore, I read the Q&A portion of this listing and someone wrote the company who confirmed that these sponges are not compostable.I feel like their ad here is super misleading. I have no idea whether these scrubbers are more or less environmentally friendly than your average supermarket brand. In sum, a great scrubber. That is not compostable.

I needed clean dishes and I didn't want any guilt over using items that were not environmentally friendly. These pads work great and last a long time! Also, because they are thinner and less absorbent than plastic sponges they don't stink or get moldy. I would say I'll be ordering more soon but they haven't even started wearing out after a few months of use, so the three I bought will do for a long time.

Amazon packaging aside the pictured card sleeve is the only packaging the scour pads came with so I was impressed there too. The material is soft enough for me to feel confident that it won't damage my pans but still abrasive enough to remove most dirt and it holds dish soap well enough to as a sponge by itself. After a few washes it will start to look fuzzy but it holds together, I expect these to last quite a while. Any issues I expect to have with these r.e. durability and hygiene are issues I'd also have with the plastic fibre equivalents so I won't review based on that.

For something so basic and simple, these are so nice to use.Pros: naturally occurring materials/ good use of biproducts, non-toxic, biodegradable, neat appearance (even after use), long-lasting. The package even has an acceptable aesthetic to include as part of a gift (many of my relatives are hooked on these products). Great value for your money, no guilt when it's time to chuck one in the bin.Cons: none!

These are so nice to use and eco friendly. I have been using these for several years and they even do my glasses without scratching. However, they don't last very long because of what they're made of. I have no problem with that but if you're looking for something to last a long time, these are not for you.I do have to occasionally get out a rougher pad for pans but not often. I cut these in half and use with soap to wash the dishes. I have even used them as body scrubbers and they don't hurt.
