I had to replace my lpfp on my BMW this past weekend and watched a video of someone who didn't have this tool. The person took 45 mins to remove the cap ring and another 45 mins to chisel it back on.Using this tool takes 2 mins each time and this is to ensure the placement is correct.Must have for diy folks.

If you’re doing delivery vans like the MT45 and similar, this is a must have! I use these tool, a half inch extension and a breaker bar, second guy to tap the top of the bar with a hammer and the lock ring pops right off, same getting it back on. Done in 2 minutes!

At the end of 5 days, many PB blaster treatments, digging at bits of rust around entire pump area for removal, trying every method possible to break it's grip, and after no less than 3 attempts to break loose my 2005 Silverado lock ring with this tool and 15 more with the other tool, I was finally able to succeed by hammering on a different competing tool with a hand held sledge hammer then a normal hammer for better control and faster strikes while applying pressure. It was one tough job.Don't forget to buy your replacement rings! They are readily available for purchase. This one has DP printed on top. It's smaller in body mass than the competing product, but has larger tangs/feet/prongs whatever you want to call them that has a vastly more difficult time hooking under the lock ring for a tight hold. It just kept popping out for me. Irony is, I bought the DP tool in case the other one that got here a day sooner didn't fit as I found confirmation this would fit my truck's lock ring. Well, not so much, but the other did thanks to thinner feet.Chalk it up for the future folks that few people make the time to do for the rest of us: 2005 green Silverado 1500 made in April 2005 k15953 4wd 156" wheels z71 5.3L flex fuel capable LS L59 Extended cab that is a HD according to it's required parts replacements but not a HD truck according to GM part websites that required a HD alternator and now a HD fuel pump(the big boy pump) If you have this set up I strongly advise the other tool. I'm sure there are many sellers here of that same tool but just click on them until you find my other review for that. It was one of the top page listings in amazon search sooo you should find it fast. No markings, solid black.

I bought this in advance of replacing the fuel pump on my 2007 Chevy Cobalt. I knew that getting the lock ring off would be very difficult. I was not mistaken. What I didn't count on was this tool being way too big. But I used my sledgehammer to pound it smaller. Then with a few tries it did the job. So I give it 4 stars. Maybe part of the lost star goes to me for buying a tool that is not the right size, but the size was not obvious to me.

Used this tool to change fuel sensors in a 2007 Santa Fe I sprayed WD-40 around the locks on the lock ring just to loosen up the dryness surface rust gathered there you will see once you do this job anyhow I then disconnected the wiring and fuel lines ( don’t forget to remove the fuel pump relay to run it out of fuel first )Then I put the wrench in place I put a short piece of pipe over the handle of my 1/2 ratchet for leverage because yes those lock rings are tight .. I applied tension to the ratchet then I tapped the edge of the tool with the hammer just slightly tapping and BAM 💥 lock rings broke clearly easy job when you take your time and pay attention to what your doing clean the lock rings before putting them back on and apply some grease to the lock areas just to make it slide easier when installing them ;)I recommend this tool it’s well built and got the job done ✔️ with no issues

Tool worked well. The rings on the Dodge charger were so tight and locked in on raised bumps that we had one person apply pressure with a breaker bar, while the other tapped the tool in the proper direction with a hammer, this seemed to be the secret for these extra tough rings . Well worth the money

Awesome tool! Fitted the Jeep Patriot fuel pump assembly perfectly. Very strong too as it took over 100 foot lbs of torque to re attach the metal ring. I managed to get the ring off using a brass punch as you see on YouTube but had to order this tool to put it back on. Save yourself a lot of grief and get this tool to take off and re attach the ring.Also attached a couple of pics to show where the fuel was leaking from the pump. The cracks were hidden under the metal ring but I could smell gas from the top of the pump when the fuel tank was freshly filled. It’s a common ish problem apparently. Anyway, great tool, should have got this in the first place and saved myself a heap of grief.
