There is nothing Jumbo about these.Standard racket. Standard shuttlecock.Lame. Disappointing. Irritating.

Children (probably over 5 to hold it easily) & adults can use this for fun playing. So far they're holding up well. I don't like the birdies but they're easy for a child to see & hit.

These are great! I got my kids (almost 8 and 4.5) regular badminton rackets and they seemed to enjoy playing, but got frustrated often at missing the birdie, so these are awesome! The handle is shorter and the racket is wider, plus the ball on the birdie is like twice the size, so they do a better job at hitting it!

This set includes 2 lightweight metal badminton rackets and 2 shuttlecocks with firm, rubber bases and pliable, plastic tops. My photo shows a comparison of this to a regular sized badminton racket and shuttlecock. The width of the head on the Smashminton is not much different than the standard badminton racket but it's not quite as long. The handles on the Smashminton rackets are about 8.75 inches long compared to about 14 inches long on a standard badminton racket. This initially makes it a bit harder for an adult who normally uses a tennis or badminton racket to use. As for the shuttlecock, the base on the ones included with this set are larger than standard. This makes it easier for kids or beginners to hit. But the strings on the racket are less tightly wound than a normal racket so you don't get as much bounce off the racket.Games can be played anywhere such as on the beach, the backyard or a park. No net is needed. If you do want to play a game with rules where no net is required, you can find information and videos on the Internet by looking up "Crossminton" (formerly known as Speedminton). Rules and Regulations are available from the International Crossminton Organisation. This product is advertised as "Franklin Sports Kids Jumbo Badminton Racket Set - Smashminton Kids Oversize Kids Badminton Rackets Set". As this is targeted for children, I don't understand why both sides of the packaging show a man hitting the racket on the beach. It seems one side could show kids playing. In any case, I think this set is a very good value and will enjoy playing it with my 7-year-old granddaughter.

I have been using these in the backyard without a net and it is still fun for my boyfriend and I to hit it back and forth to each other. They are slightly bigger than standard rackets, so it is easier to hit and more fun to play. They seem like good quality and would be good for kids too.

I have been playing badminton for as long as I can remember, and I promise you that these are standard size badminton rackets! The birdies are the same size as traditional ones also. I don't understand why the manufacturer labeled this set as larger than normal. My kids were disappointed that these rackets were standard size. And had I know they were not special. But I'm still happy they are here since they will be a nice upgrade. As far as quality goes, these are very well made rackets. A lot nicer than the other two sets we own currently. They're weighted correctly and the handle is easy to grip. The netting is slightly thicker and more flexible feeling too. Plus the birdies seem like they are more durable than others we owned as well. If you've never played badminton before, I cannot recommend this game enough. It is simple enough for people of all ages to play. And this set would be a nice choice if you're looking for the traditional STANDARD sized, badminton rackets!

These definitely have a larger hitting surface than typical badminton rackets, so if you want standard size these aren't it. I could see how the jumbo size could be good for kids. They seem like pretty decent quality. My husband and I have talked about how we really liked playing badminton in gym class in highschool, so I thought this could be something fun to do together and get us up and moving. We don't have any net or anything yet, so for now we'll just enjoy hitting the birdie to eachother.
