Used it in the field for many years and it works very good. If you take little care of it it will last for many years and makes your job a little easier.

This is the tool sold on tool trucks and it's accurate. We use this for videos for customers at my dealership. It's awesome and makes tire measuring easy. There's an exact measurement not left up to interpretation which we document through videos. Even if your dealer doesn't send videos, it's much easier the a regular tire guage.

Tons of tire shops unfortunately still use 32nds, so the fact you can't just always get a fraction ending in 32 is annoying, you have to do math.

I am a very mechanically adept individual and have always had very positive experiences with other Fowler brand items i have purchased but this tire gauge I received was either a bad one or something. I am a fleet Manager for an Amazon Delievery Provider and have 40 Amazon branded vans to maintain and purchased this to make inspections faster but the battery cover won't stay on with the battery installed and the rubber gasket makes it impossible to latch it period but without it the battery is to loose to work. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT and let down that Fowler is producing items of this low quality now. Maybe I got a bad one and hope thats the case but im still out the cost and now need to purchase another digital gauge for work.

Me gustó la calidad del equipo, se ve que está bien hecho, ya incluye sus pilas y un estuche para guardarlo. Además el precio es muy accesible.

This works OK but there are two things about it that annoy me. First, it's very tall. My car is very low and has little clearance between the tire and the fender so I can't get my hand in there. So I have to use it between the bottom of the car and the ground. There's barely enough room to get it 90 degrees to the tire without it hitting the ground. If a tread wear indicator is in that sweet spot then I can't get a useful reading. The second issue is it's spring loaded. If the light isn't just right, and it usually isn't, I can't read it as I press it against the tire. You can't pull it away from the tire to read it unless you press the "HOLD" button while pressing it to the tread. That button is a tiny little rubber nub. It's hard to press it and keep the gauge flat against the tread at the same time. You also get no feedback to tell you it's been pressed. So you press it, pull it out, see that you really didn't press it, put it back, try again, repeat. The press does work most of the time but the slightest tilt while pressing changes the reading. Basically I think it's a good gauge with good precision and I have gotten good use from it but it's not designed all that well and I find it annoying to use.

Im a certified machinist. Used this to quickly check acme thread depth on shafts i was turning for a month. Checked it regularly against my starett depth mic and found it to be very accurate. You won't find a better digital depth mic for under $20.

If you really want an accurate tire tread measurement this is the only tool you need. Works very fast and easy to read. You can use the "hold" function to save the measurement if view of the display is difficult. The only thing I wish was different is when measuring with the fractional display is will reduce to simplified fractions and also measure to /64 instead of only displaying in /32. With some simple math you can get the reading into a /32 form. But hardly any shop would measure a tread down to /64 of an inch. But like I said this is the best tool for an accurate measurement so I can't say this is a complaint.
