I was curious as to the great reviews this dac was getting and I wanted to try a good sounding dac that could be upgraded. The bypass switch on this unit really nailed it for me. It was wonderful! Super detailed and clean. I tried hooking up the dac to an outboard linear power supply and the combo edged out my other dac that cost several times the amount spent on the power supply - fosi combo...wow! 5 stars for cost and performance.

Awesome and has every feature you’d want.With the exception of a line in for phono or another source selector.And no sub out is odd for this form factor.Easy to set up.Connects to almost everything (except as noted) but Fosi does it again with a great piece of equipment!

This Dac is good value for money. I am using it in Bypass mode connected to an integrated amp. All the connectivity features work fine - BT, OPT, USB. I had even connected it to TV hdmi arc and used for a few days, no problems at all in functionality but due to my own personal choice I prefer using the optical out from TV to the Dac. I am using this dac with a 2 channel stereo set up (integrated amplifier bookshelf speakers). The tonal signature of the stock fitted Op amps is decent enough with balance of all tones and there is a very slight tilt towards the mids and the highs which is good in a way. I also have two more products from Fosi and this is the one I like most. Overall I am satisfied with this Dac's performance.

This is an excellent DAC.It has many features that you only find in much more expensive units.I like that this has balanced XLR outputs.They include another set of op-amps you can swap out which is cool.For me the original op-amps that Fosi chose to install as default sounded better but it's nice that you can roll op-amps in this DAC.This DAC sounds great.It sounds very clear and detailed.This pairs perfectly with my Fosi ZA3 amp as this has the balance XLR outputs which allows me to utilize the balanced XLR inputs on the ZA3.This also has the 12V trigger out to trigger that ZA3 amp.The Bluetooth connects very fast and I don't notice any lag in the audio when watching videos or movies which is great.I love the look of this stacked with the ZA3 amp.The only thing I wish it had is tone control to adjust the bass and treble to adjust the sound.I like to tweak the sound based on the speakers I'm using so it would have been nice to have some tone control.For all the features you get at this price, they hit really it out of the park with this one.

I got this unit because I really wanted an ESS chip DAC (but not a harsh one) to complement my R2R and AKM DAC collection. This unit is affordable and high quality and has all the digital ins and analogue outs I wanted. In addition it allows for op-amp rolling on both the RCA output (I used a single Dual-Sparkos S3602) and the XLR outputs (I used 2x Burson V7 Vivids). Out of the box the unit sounded great already and I only rolled the op-amps out of audiophile curiosity, not out of necessity. With the Sparkos and Burson op-amps the unit sounded even better (especially when used as a variable volume preamp), but unless you have a really resolving audio system, you don't really need to do it. I also added an upgraded power supply to the unit (12V) to see if an extra silent and/or linear power supply made a difference. Again, yes there was a slight improvement in my high end system, but the stock 12V wall-wart power supply was fine to begin with. Thus unit out of the box is very good and expensive upgrades in upgraded op-amps and power supplies made a difference but probably not worth the investment unless you're really into the hobby. I'd say that unless you plan to use the unit as both a DAC and a preamp as well there's no need to go through the trouble. Recommended!

Fosi zd3 is good dac in budget. This dac connected to fosi v3 mono block amps. Audio quality is good and separation of instruments also good. Iam happy with this dac.

Pros:A Solid Budget DAC with Unique Features, at its price, effectively eliminated noise when outputting analog sound from my PC to my AVR, even when other solutions like the Creative Labs Sound Blaster X5 failed.Supports HDMI ARC, which is a unique and versatile feature not commonly found at this price point.Solid build quality and sleek design that gives it a premium look.Cons:The tiny circular screen is difficult to read beyond arm’s length, which diminishes the usefulness of the included remote.While functional, it lacks the refinement and performance of more upmarket solutions.Overall, this DAC delivers good value for the price and offers some standout features like HDMI ARC, but it’s not the perfect fit for my needs. For those on a budget or with a specific use case, it could be a great choice.

ZD3 from Fosi Audio is a great DAC and preamp all in one !Build quality is top notch , connectivity and ability to integrate with systems is awesome specially due to unique HDMI connection.I have used it thru Coax, Optical, USB and Bluetooth connections and ZD3 is producing great sound quality punching well above its price point , totally unthinkable just few years ago .I have it for 2 weeks now and after 50 hours of use it opened up to a really wide and deep soundstage with clean tonality and very musical presentation. Stock TI Op amps produce very clean and clear sound character while included NJR Opamps are more warm and lush in tonality . Both are great choices and picking one over the other maybe up to the rest of the system or room acoustics as deciding factors.Bass is almost sub sonic with TI op amps and NJR Opamps are more bloomed in mid bass making them a better match to some bookshelf speakers where mid bass is very important.Detail and resolution coming out of ZD3 is fantastic .I have to say that adding audio grade Linear Power Supply with 12V and at least 2amp of output really transforms ZD3 . I have Ali Express sourced 55usd LPS that allowed the soundstage to further open up , bass be more articulate and less bloated , highs have lost some shrill and are much cleaner and convincing as well , same for harmonics with all acoustic instruments that are even cleaner and better extended in timber and ring to them .I highly recommend Fosi ZD3 in it's stock form , further use of other dual op amps or discrete ones maybe the best way to tune it to your liking . Op Amp swap took me 5 minutes after watching the instructions on you tube , it is very easy , it really allows this DAC to be fine tuned to your system and sound type you like. Fosi Audio is highly praised for this design and unique ability to match up with your expectations .I look forward to listen and own more of their gear and will keep my eyes and ears wide open to their other products!!!Great job Fosi , keep it up .
