Ok, this "safebox" (the manufacture's term, not mine) is not a safe in the traditional sense. But for the sake of the review, I will call it a safe. This safe saved me $1,400.00. How? I was ready to pull the trigger on a Hollon PM 1014C - TL15 safe (I mean that IS a real safe as it weighs 450lbs and has concrete poured inner walls and is TL rated to survive an attack by a trained (not a smash grab) burglar for 15 minutes with all the tools at his disposal). It's probably worth all its $1,600 dollar asking price and is everything this FORFEND Safe is not. The FORFEND safe is 38lbs and can most likely be cut into in matter of minutes with a saw. A dozen good whacks or so with a sledgehammer and most likely you're in? So, you may be wondering why I opted for this over the Hollon. It's all about layers of security. And this little guy adds to it in spades:The ability to notify me via the app that it's been touched (moved) is amazing. The built-in sensitivity trigger alarm works great. It tells me if there was an attempt to open and I can lock it down remotely with a tap of the screen on my phone (only to buy the few extra minutes to respond or call the police). It can be a "dumb" safe too and just open with a code or fingerprint (which works amazingly well) or it can be a smart safe and do all the features that made me buy this. I'd rather be notified that my safe is being attacked (or pried from the floor as I currently have it anchored) then not being notified with a "dumb" TL-15 safe, that while, in its weight and construction, may be a deterrent to the smash and grab robber, the more exercised one can and will eventually get into. Remember layers? I have this safe behind a secure door (tied to my home alarm) in my office closet with that door under surveillance from my Google Nest camera (on a separate power source with a backup battery) all tied to my SimpliSafe alarm and Google Home system behind two doors that have doorbell cameras with motion activated lights around the house. The fact I can open it remotely via the app or using "Hey Google...open safe" and Google will ask me for the passcode and unlock while at home is cool too. Some have complained it's hard to set up the WIFI/app/connectivity part. It can be daunting but just follow the instructions, play the videos (pause them when needed is key) and in about 10 minutes you'll be up and running. A few call outs to save you some time and headaches:1. If you opt to use the smart features don't waste your time setting up the keypad or fingerprint reader as setting up the WIFI will cancel out that information and you will have to reset it up AFTER you do the optional WIFI setup. If you don't plan on using the WIFI just set it up the keypad and reader and be done.2. The included gateway that connects to the safe and bridges to your home WIFI network is cheap feeling in hand but works fine. My only concern was...do I want a foreign gateway on my home WIFI network that I have no idea what it's keeping track of and or monitoring data wise? Think of TikTok. So, I have it connected to a separate wireless network I don't use anything else on but this gateway. It's the only device on that network. Maybe I'm too over cautious but it is what it is.I will/may one day splurge and get the Hollon safe but the $200 this cost me is more than fine for now. It came packaged well and is decent for a "safebox" but it's great with its smart features. Oh yeah and the app is pretty good too. Easy to use, responsive and no monthly or any additional cost to use.

It is a bit small but perfectly compact for closet safe. Easy to program with many options such as key, code or finger print to open. Substantial and built well.

It seems smaller than I expected and honestly it’s very thin metal. It’s not strong or heavy enough to hold itself in place when door open when empty. To me that says it’s not very much protection. The knob you turn to lock it seems loose and flimsy. There are many bolts to hold door tight yes. There is a WiFi gateway router hub so it can alert you via the app, yes. Realize though the box talks to the router hub and then the hub talks to server somewhere and with needing location turned on for it to magically connect, it’s suspicious to me that this is just another iot device to data mine. Tried to connect not using location multiple times and no go until I let it know my location. So for that reason, and because it can access things on my network, personally I see it as a device I don’t trust for cybersecurity reasons. For some reason I decided on it thinking it was more than it is. The WiFi part is optional but honestly it could be a Bluetooth connection to your phone for use without putting on WiFi, to set up codes and stuff. It’s too much of a pain to return so I’ll keep it, not use the WiFi stuff and accept this was a bad purchase on my part. This model does not have a fingerprint reader and for the price, it should.

There is nothing I dislike about this safe. It is awesome and works well. Extremely easy setup for PIN code, fingerprint, and wifi unlocking. I also like the "Tamper" and "Kidnap" alarms. The only thing I would request is the ability to change the volume of the "Tamper" alarm like you can do for the "Kidnap" alarm. I would recommend this safe to anyone! It works as described.

The only thing that took the longest when it came to this safe, was installing this in my home. However, before doing that, I was able to get everything connected through the app and safe so I would be able to open this safe from anywhere. Which is literally anywhere. Once this was tested and shown to be working, I then installed it inside of my home which was really easy and is more secure than I thought it was going to be. When I say that this safe can be opened at any distance, I was able to open this safe from about 4 states away just by using the app. Or if I am in another room, I can easily open it too. So really it doesn't matter the distance. The only one I haven't tested is being in another country. The amount of space that this safe has is plenty for what I need it for and I still have space left over which is great. I did finally have to replace the batteries after having them in when I originally got it which was over 2 months ago. So personally, I feel that is pretty good, especially with the amount of times we've had to open and close this.
