I like that the eyes blink and the head turns,I don't like that the ear hair goes in different directions, the black hair on the wings is coarse and the beak doesn't move.I didn't like that they shipped the owl in a plastic bag. There was nothing to cushion such an expensive puppet.

I like the ease of use in turning the head and operating the almost life like eyes. My dog was very wary of it and kept her distance, I wish the mouth was moveable. But it looks realistic enough to draw attention. The head moves easily and realistically, from a few feet away the body looks like feathers. I purchased this for my personal pleasure, nut this puppet can be used in performances. You. don’t have to be a ventriloquist to enjoy this puppet. I have already thought of ways to do monologues. I would recommend this for child or adult.

The head turns 180 degrees and there is a trigger inside the puppet so you can blink it’s eyes. The puppet came to my house suffocated in plastic inside a box so the face was slightly messy. But just run your hands or fingers down the direction of the fabric and it will look lovely. It does shed a little right when you take it out of the packaging but just “pet” it all over and the little residue pieces should fall right off. For when you desire to blink the eyes, there is a trigger on the pole to turn the owl’s head. In my opinion, the softest part of the owl is the belly. When ever I am on road trips with my family I like to run my fingers through the front stomach. The inside of the puppet can get hot at sometimes but that was when I was running around or it was hot out side. The beak does not open or move. The wings, ok so the wings, you can’t really “fly” with them. But they do look cute when expressing emotions. The feet or talons are nice, the feet are covered in black fur and the talons ( or nails ) are made of a leather like fabric. This is an amazing puppet and recommend this puppet to all. I would buy this again as a gift for a loved one.

This is one cool owl. Love how we can open and close his eyes and rotate his head. Folkmanis is supplying an apparently old photo of the owl though, as the beak is now made of plastic and not leather as it appears in the photo. I would have preferred the leather beak, but we are still happy with the quality of the owl. The owl is large enough to make a statement. Very cool puppet and our son loves it.

After seeing this owl in several local shops, I fell in love with it - it looked really beautiful. I was happy to see it on Amazon for a lower price, and I ordered it. The owl that I received today is very different from what I saw before and what the picture depicts. First, its beak is now plastic, not leather as you see in the first photograph. It is shiny and unrealistic. The eyes are not yellow-green as in the first photograph - they are more orange than yellow. This takes away the owl's original expression. The little pieces of fur are combined on the head very differently from the first picture - e.g., there is no white ring around the beak, instead, there are two small white patches on both sides of it. The sides of the head are sewn differently as well, resulting in a much less interesting image. The color of fur on the owl's belly is also different - it's uniform dark brown, unlike the seller's photograph. I can't say the owl I received is absolutely ugly, but it has nothing of the cuteness and appeal of the one in the picture. My guess is that the seller has several different models, and at some point, the original model was replaced with the one I received, without it being mentioned in the description. If you buy this, be ready to receive something remotely resembling what you see in the seller's photograph, and possibly something different from what the authors of positive feedback entries received.

I bought the Great Horned Owl Puppet (and mini field mouse finger puppet to go with it) to make a display for my table at the Faire. They drew attention just as I'd hoped and many a child asked if they were real. It brought people over to my table and that's what I wanted. The puppet's head moves and the eyes open and close, a truly charming owl to carry on your arm or display at Halloween (or any time!). Buy this wise, woolly, realistic owl and make your home warm and fuzzy. The puppet is well made, realistic and sturdy. I loved stroking his ears.

Took him into school and children loved him, alas though I liked him so much wouldn't let them touch him. Got so bad, brought him back home and he's now perched on stairs in my own converted barn. He's just so lovely for words I actually think he's too lovely for kids to play with and ruffle his feathers lol ! He feels real, so soft and when he blinks .... ps have actually gone bonkers over a toy !ps, his beak is hard plastic, so he's not really a cuddly for babies, 7 and up love him though ... if they actually are allowed to go anywhere near him lol ... ps cheap as chips from US almost bought him from another supplier for about £ 60 , he arrived within a week too so brilliant speedy delivery..... have bought the bear too, he's just as amazing, think i'm going to end up being a collector ... this company are amazing ... so not greedy with the pricing .... they deserved to be bought from, they'll keep the USA out of recession if I have my way !!!!!!!

The Great Horned Owl is simply beautiful! As I opened it and took it out of the box, I screamed like an excited little kid because the feel and look of the owl is beyond what I anticipated. But this is exactly what you would expect from Folkmanis. First of all, the eyes blink!! And when they blink, it looks like a real owl blinking. The head turns 180 degrees. Again, when the head is moving, it looks like a real owl. The fur (feathers) looks like feathers, and it's incredibly soft and fluffy feeling like real feathers. The colors are beautiful, and the way the colors are done in the fur it looks like feathers. The place where you insert your hand is large and very comfortable for an adult. My daughter loves her owl, and I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
