About this item

  • Infrared filters, sometimes called IR filters or heat-absorbing filters, are designed to allow IR mid-infrared wavelengths while block visible light. They are often used in devices with bright incandescent light bulbs (such as slide and overhead projectors) to prevent unwanted heating.
  • There are also filters which are used in solid state (CCD or CMOS) video cameras to allow IR due to the high sensitivity of many camera sensors to near-infrared light. These filters typically have a blue hue to them as they also sometimes block some of the light from the shorter visible light and UV wavelengths.
  • Digital cameras are usually equipped with IR-blocking filters to prevent unnatural-looking images. IR-transmitting (passing) filters, or removal of factory IR-blocking filters, are commonly used in infrared photography to pass infrared light and block visible and ultraviolet light. Such filters appear black to the eye, but are transparent when viewed with an IR sensitive device.
  • The creative adjustable IR filter is a compact all-in-one variable wavelengths filter that adjusts the amount of wavelengths with just the twist of your wrist. The index marks on the filter let you know exactly the amount of wavelengths at a glance. Giving you clear and precise shots at whichever wavelengths you are using. It offers you the freedom to create different wavelengths freely.
  • Now, you don't have to carry a bunch of filters for shooting. Just one filter, gives you from the range 530nm to 750nm freely.

Kindly Note:

1. You'd better remove the IR-blocking filters in front of CCD or CMOS sensor when using IR filters

2. Setting the white balance

3. If you don't want to do any transformation on your device, you can do some post processing after shooting to achieve the IR effect.

In which ways the infrared filter will be used?

1. Archaeology, Military,Police,Medical science, and detective work. Infrared filter allow normally invisible stains and modified items visible.

2. Plant vegetation & Landscape photography. It looks dramatically different when photographed in Infrared.

3. Photographic special effects.Infrared filters give the still and video photographer expressive and unusual effects.

In what suitable light source should I use the infrared filters?

IR filter can block all visible light under related wavelengths and very sensitive to utraviolet rays.

590nm, 600nm and 630nm for Infrared change machine. The rich colors, custom white balance, the original film in general the sky was bright red, partial brown or amber, plant leaves, blue, sky blue saturation after post-processing, the leaves yellow or golden yellow.

680nm for indoor and weak Shadows use.

750nm for indoor and weak light use.

760nm for cloudy outdoor at nightfall and brightness indoor.

The fact that there’s no nm marking as the ads might indicate a fake Fotga? Not that I need a particular nm wavelength , I bought based on reviews.Forget about exchange, all 77mm I exchanged are unmarked. They don't look like typical IR shooting in BW, more like unsharp hallow, kinda BW afterlife look or glowing melancholic romantic depends on your subject. It's a unique BW so kept it, don't know when I'll used it.

My guess is this is an 650nm + ~1000 nm absorbing filter with a crossed polarizer that has low efficiency >750 nm. I bought this out of curiosity. What it does well for the price:* It is relatively insensitive to angle/field of view, unlike interference filters.* it has nice metal constructionWhat it does poorly:* It's only job. Unsurprisingly, this does not let you to pick a wavelength to pass. Just option A: (lots of 650 nm + a little bit of 750 nm) or B: (no 650 nm but about the same small amount of 750 nm)* The polarizer cuts out ~1/2 the light, not including the color filter. the peak transmission is about 40%. Make sure you have lots of light if you use this.I've uploaded some spectra I measured of the filter.

Having tried the FocusFoto FOTGA 77mm All-in-One Adjustable Infrared IR Pass X-Ray Lens Filter, I can confirm it performs commendably. The adjustable aspect brings a level of flexibility that's much appreciated, adding a tailored touch to your photography. However, there is a slight trade-off for this versatility. When working at the extremes of the adjustable range, you might find that your lens tends to slow down a bit. This, in turn, necessitates the use of higher ISOs. So, if you're planning on pushing the boundaries with this filter, be prepared to make those adjustments on your camera. In conclusion, the FocusFoto FOTGA filter introduces a whole new dimension to your photographic experience with its adjustable nature. Just remember to keep that ISO adjustment in mind when shooting at the filter's upper and lower limits.

I started into infrared (IR) photography when I purchased this filter. I have learned a lot since then and would recommend this filter for anyone starting out shooting infrared photography. NOTE: Make sure your camera is recommended for IR photography as not all camera sensors will work, my Canon 70D happens one that works.PRO: Good for beginners. Easily fits on my lens. Smooth to operate.CONS: Of all the levels that can be adjusted only two worked with my camera (Canon 70d), this is fine for learning but I will be purchasing standard IR filters in the future. My standard lens cap does not fit this so I have to carry the case around when I'm not using it.
