Your cart is empty.Backer Rod is a closed cell, resilient, polyethylene backer rod used as a backup material for construction joints and applications that require sealants. It performs as a depth control for most known cold applied sealants. Sealants will not adhere to it; no bond breaker is required. Composition and Materials: Our Backer Rod is a round, resilient, extruded closed cell polyethylene backer rod with a water resistant outer skin. It is compatible with most known cold applied sealants such as urethane, silicone, acrylic, butyl, polysulfides, latex, and chinking sealants. Specific Uses Include: Expansion joints Highway joints Glazing Log home chinking Parking Decks Curtain Walls Coping joints Isolation joints Temporary joint seal Limitations: Backer Rod should be installed with a roller or blunt, flat-sided tool. Please follow sealant manufacturer specifications for recommended sealant width and depth ratio. For best results, do not puncture, fold or overly stretch the product. The product is made with a water-resistant outer skin, therefore where moisture resistance is important, care should be taken not to puncture this outer surface skin. Installation: Joint or opening must be free of all contaminants, loose materials, dry and free of frost. Select correct rod size for joint width. With a blunt instrument or roller, seat Backer Rod to depth recommended by sealant manufacturer. Technical Data: Backer Rod is chemically inert and will resist gasoline, oil, and most solvents. Product will not stain or adhere to sealants. Density: 1.3-1.9 lbs/ft3 Water Absorption: less than 0.5% by volume 90% Compression Deflection: 5 psi Tensile Strength: > 29 psi Meets standards ASTM D5249 type 3 and ASTM C1330 type C Box Sizes: 1/4 inch - 4000 feet length 1/2 inch - 2500 feet length 3/4 inch - 1100 feet length 1 inch - 600 feet length

1st off...I brought too much for what I thought. But i have found other uses for it. I cut them in half and use them for small gaps around my A/C...any places i feel cold entering i cut to fit gaps. I just wish I could send back (1) roll...past return time limit. I also use them to seal up most of my woodworking tools.

This backer rod made great “beehive” pedestals for decorations for a state Eastern Star convention! I can’t wait to see what I’ll use the leftover for.

We have a large number of joints in concrete to seal, this will be used beneath the sealant to prevent bleed through. Arrived quickly. Great price per foot compared to what's available at home improvement stores
