I hope I learned the lesson. I have a Fluval Betts tank and the heater needed replacement. I tried 3 different aquarium heaters and none of them were right. I then ordered this replacement heater which is the same model that came with the Fluval tank. It is the right one!!!

I was watching TV when I heard loud gurgling noises from my 10 gallon aquarium. I assumed it was my filter but it was coming from the heater. Of course this was odd. Suddenly, the water around the heater was bubbling very aggressively and then started to shoot out water. It looked like Old Faithful, boiling water shooting out of my open top aquarium, drenching the floor. After being frozen in fear for 2 seconds, I instinctively yanked out the plug and the boiling stopped. There was this weird black powdery stuff all over the surface and it stunk like burned rubber. The worst was the SMOKE coming out of the water and I was worried it would trigger the fire alarm of my building.I looked into my tank and saw my 6 rasboras swimming on their sides, darting and panicking. My 20 cherry shrimp, along with all the baby shrimp were doing the same. I knew they were all as good as dead. There's no way they could survive an underwater nuke caused by Fluval. The heater had a small hole, which I assume got cracked due to poor construction. This caused the toxins to leak out.I can't think of anything I did to have caused this. My last water change was a few days before, the heater was completely submerged, and there were no sudden temperature changes.I read somewhere that heaters should be replaced every 3-5 years. I wish there was a warning when the time was up other than having a mass extinction in my aquarium.

Nice build but unfortunately over heats my 10 gallon tank by 4 to 5 degrees. It's supposed to be preset at 76f to 78f. I'm getting 82.4f for the most part. I would recommend this for someone with a 15 gallon tank.

I setup a Fluval Spec III 2.6-Gallon aquarium and wanted a reliable heater that could keep my aquarium as close to 80 degrees as possible because I was planning on getting a betta fish. Three weeks later still no betta fish, but my aquarium is always bang on 80 degrees. Highly recommend for anyone with a 2.6 gallon tank looking to keep the water temp at a constant 80F.

I don't know about its durability and how reliable this product is, but so far so good. It does what's supposed to do and it takes very little space in my 20l tank. Just plug it in and let it do its job.

Great Item and great seller, fast delivery. Item as described. Warmed the tank water upto the desired temp in no time at all. Temp is set automatically to be between 24-26° C which is great and works well for our guppies.

This thing works like a charm! Just plug and play. Ever since I put it in my Fishtank, my little beta fish are so happy and warm. It’s automatically controlled by the thermostat set at the factory. I was a little freaked out at first when I thought of the idea of buying something that was controlled automatically, but no boiled fish yet! They’re warm and cozy and happy. If you’re on the fence about buying this for your beta fish, look no further than this heater. Buy your little beta fish a blanket before they freeze to death. I’ve been using it for about three months now and it’s held up so far. It’s the perfect size to fit into a 3 gallon aquarium.

Although Fluval sells these with the Betta Premium, which like the EBI 2.6 gallon is just a modified version of the Fluval Spec III, they are a bit underpowered for the tank’s capacity. Especially if your home’s room temperature drops into the 60s in cold months. The P10 just doesn’t have enough wattage to get to its preset 78 degrees in that instance. To keep my P10s from running constantly in winter, I have them paired with Inkbird temperature controllers set at 76 degrees. As soon as the water reaches 76, the Inkbird turns the heater off. When the temperature drops one degree, the controller turns the heater back on again. For my animals, this is sufficient. The Inkbird also adds peace of mind that if the heater gets stuck in the “on” position during warmer months, it won’t overheat since the Inkbird will cut the power as soon as my desired water temperature is reached.Still, when the budget allows, I’ll probably upgrade to a better wattage.
