The name lives up to its reputation. Best ive ever used, very reliable results and very sensitive. Some say it is too sensitive, but it has the best of both worlds. Dual colours. One for long range tracing (~6 inches), and the other colour when you are right on top of the powered wire. Clear and definitive indications that i can trust.

Es un equipo que previene de una descarga eléctrica, ya que su uso correcto nos indica si se tiene un espacio energizado y con esto se procede con mayor precaución.

So as a C10 electrician, I’ve used multiple different types of these, and this is the best one yet. The accuracy is amazing and the blue and red colors are a way better distinguishing identifier than just a beep. Because you know that voltage is present more accurately than just having this thing beeping all over a tanglement of wires.

Very nice. It works through drywall and identifies the hot side of a recep. Not to mention it’s Cat IV. Worth every penny.

I did not give it 5 stars as it did does not beep at the presence of electrical power, other than that it works great.

Like others have said it’s far more sensitive than 90V. It reliably indicates for 12Vdc. But it hasn’t given me any false positives or negatives in the week that I’ve been playing with it. And as an AV tech, that behaviour is perfect for my uses.

I’ve been using this tester in an industrial setting for years. Works great. That review that says it only lights up on one side is incorrect. It lights up just fine on all sides, in all conditions, and it is very sensitive. As with all inductive testers, if wire is shielded you will not get a reading. The only downside for a residential electrician is that it doesn’t have the little tab that goes into a receptacle, but it is sensitive enough to make that unnecessary.

I like multi-tools. I have tried to get as much functionality from what can be carried easily on my hip so I don't have to keep going back to my "world" to grab tools. So instead of a Maglite and a voltage sniffer, I had been carrying a LVD1 since they first came out also using it at my go to flashlight. The LVD2 surpasses the earlier model in a number of ways. The power on button is located on the rear now instead of the side which would cause the old 1 to turn on as it sat in the Maglite holster of my tool pouch. Also the 1 was constantly loosing the battery cover so that I had wrapped the end in e-tape. The LDV2 has a better designed battery cover and works well.As I deal with a lot of long lines and connectors in which the hot is buried away from the face more than in Edison type connectors the Red "Hot is here" is a bit too sensitive and doesn't always light, so when the Blue "some voltage is here" is lit, which it will do for even low voltage and/or within just under a foot of sources, you have to grab a meter sometimes to see if a line is truly hot or just inducting. Also, they haven't quite got the power switch quite right yet. On occasion it will not turn on until put through some sudden G-force application. But I carry it, and would suggest others do too. The no audible tone is actually a positive feature in my work.UPDATE: I have just purchased a second one of these to replace the one I bought originally. I will take some of he blame in rough handling as I shoe-horn this into the space on a beltpouch designed for a mini-mag lite, unfortunately the clear tip will pull off. I have added some etape to better secure it. However, eventually the power sensing stopped. I have etaped my new one in the same manner and do not force it down very far in the holster.

Fluke LVD2 Current Detector, 90-600v detection, does what it is supposed to do. Push the button on the end and the flashlight comes on, and detection begins. It can follow a Romex line in a drywall covered wall, and easily determine if a wire is carrying current. The light is bright enough to use to walk through unlite areas, but is certainly not going to illuminate a room. For the close-in work this device is performing, however, it is extremely bright. The case is rugged (not bottom of your toolbox rugged), and I expect years of service for this test/ detection instrument.
