I have had a few flowmaster mufflers without much issue. I am not really thrilled with the sound, I bought it because this model was supposed to be a bit less "drone" sounding but I actually find it pretty annoying. I put it on a 17 Dodge ram with the factory dual pipes. No power increase felt. Its just good enough not to bother to remove it for a better sounding option. The sound is not as deep as I expected but certainly does not sound bad. It was a huge pain to install but only because my stock muffer was rusted to hell. Had to be cut off. Hope this is helpful for anyone on the fence about this product. Cheers.

Installed on a 2018 Ram 1500.Relatively easy install. Little mechanical knowledge needed for this. Brute strength and a will to succeed. Seemed to run a little short overall. Not seated all the way into the keepers. Hasn’t moved tho. And the hangers didn’t quit line up. A little tweaking on the factory and muffler hangers and it went in.Love the new sound. Nice and throaty without being obnoxious.Either stay in the throttle or let is shift into Eco mode. The in between has some drone. All in all a great sound for the money.

I could not get my muffler tips to line up properly after installing, no matter how I adjusted them. The muffler pipes have keys that go into slots in this muffler to hold them at the correct alignment, but it seems they were at the wrong angle. As soon as I switched back to the oem muffler I was able to get the muffler tips centered again. The muffler sounds great, but it's a bit too loud for me. Louder than I was expecting based on other reviews. Most people will probably find the volume acceptable, but it was certainly noticeable in the cab, including on the highway. It became annoying on long highway drives. I loved how it sounded on cold starts. But my neighbours in our small condominium probably didn't. I'm returning it because I'm not happy with the fit, and it's just a bit too loud for me.

Perfect "rumble" for my Ram - minimal in cab "drone" and only on acceleration - not bothersome at all. On the highway no cab noise other than "tunes"!.

Many Youtube videos on people self-installing this muffler, but my Ram is a 2010 and I didn't feel like dealing with 8 year-old rusty connections.(most show it being done on newer trucks with no rust)I took it to my local muffler shop and for $150 they welded the whole system together, not even using the provided clamps that come with the muffler. They had to cut the old muffler out, pipes were rusted together, so I would never have been able to do this at home. All I can say is WOW! My Ram finally sounds like the Hemi-powered machine that it is. Plenty of growl when you step on it, and a nice deep rumble at idle. You know when it's running, have no doubt. But...surprisingly quiet in the cab. Sure, there's a difference from the factory "mild-mannered" grumble, but it's more grin-inducing than annoying. Haven't noticed an appreciable drone at highway speeds, unlike the reviews for the Outlaw system mention.Glad I went with the American Thunder vs the Outlaw, this one's PLENTY loud enough, and as with all Flowmasters, after a couple of months it'll get a little louder. Getting just the muffler allowed me to keep my factory resonators on, the full cat-back system has no resonators on the tailpipes. If you have a Hemi Ram, you will love this muffler!

Flowmaster has really produced a good and effective product. The American Thunder on my 2017 RAM 1500 really opened up the responsiveness of the engine. It certainly has opened up the exhaust flow to allow the engine to exhale better. Torque is almost instantaneous when I need it; whether I'm taking off from a red light or traveling at speed. I have to mention that I also have a Pedal Commander installed and replaced the factory air filter with one from K&N (not a cold air intake just the filter element). I don't believe that a CAI would improve the air intake much more than just replacing the filter. The per square inch area is not that much greater on an CAI. With this setup I can maintain a lower noise level from the engine at WOT (wide open throttle) and get almost the same effect. I can even say that the transmission shifts are smother and more precise in its downshifting as well. If you really don't care about noise the Outlaw is probably your thing. If noise is an issue for you go with the Force II it is much quieter. The American Thunder does rumble and produces cabin noise if your motor is revving over 2500 RPM. Highway driving may not be so bad but towing is a bit strenuous on the ears. Overall it makes for a much more fun driving experience and I really like it. For the RAM 1500 5.7l the direct fit is just fine. You really would be wasting your money if you bought the cat-back system. You already have a dual exhaust. If you really must let me tell you that the power gain is not going to be much better and you would never feel or realize it if the vehicle has 5 more HP and maybe 3.5 more LBS of torque. For now I'm enjoying it and I hope this helps in you search for an exhaust upgrade.

I ordered this from the Amazon factory deals. It was described as a "used" item with up to 10% of the surface containing scratches. It was shipped to my door very quickly and was boxed well with expanding foam pack lining the box. Upon inspecting it, I only found two small scratches. Just two. And this muffler is stainless steel so the scratches don't matter. Not only that, it's a muffler. C'mon... Once installed nobody will ever see it.The muffler came with the required clamps which actually were better quality than the factory ones. Fitment was great as it is a direct bolt on replacement. I took my time installing it with my six year old son and it only took about an hour. Nice little father son project. The sound from this muffler is great. Nice throaty rumble at idle, nice growl under acceleration, and quiet on the highway. The MDS noise is more noticeable but definitely tolerable. This was a good upgrade from the factory exhaust and I definitely enjoy how it sounds. If you are looking for a modest rumble than this is a great choice. If you want a super aggressive window rattling neighbour waking sound, go for the Outlaw muffler or something along those lines.

Legendary Flowmaster quality and sound. Very easy to install. My truck is less than a year old with less than 10,000 miles, so no problem getting the stock muffler off. Total install only took about a half hour in my driveway. Definitely loud enough, but not too obnoxious for every day use. Sounds awesome on acceleration. The Hemi definitely breathes better too. No problem with sound quality related to the MDS as some others reported. However, more drone that I expected on the highway - especially noticeable when under load in higher gears like when climbing long hills. Overall happy with the system. Nice upgrade from stock.

Just received the muffler from Amazon and installed it. The sound is AWESOME! There is nowhere near the drone in the cab that you see in some reviews. When the MDS kicks in, it is almost as quiet as the stock exhaust, only loud when you accelerate and in a very good way. As a direct fit muffler, clamps and instructions are included. The hardest part is getting the old muffler off.

I just installed this Flowmaster muffler on my 2014 Ram 1500 Sport and I could not be happier. It only took me 45 minutes to install and all I needed was a 5/8 (15mm fits better) socket wrench, WD-40 and a rubber mallet which probably didn't need but helped. I didn't even need to put the truck on ramps. This muffler fit exactly as it issupposed to and sounds unbelievably good. It is tuned specifically for the Ram 5.7 Hemi and is loud but not obnoxious. It has a very throaty rumble at idle and goes in "beast-mode" when you hammer it. It doesn't drown out the cabin during cruising speeds but definitely lets you know it's there when you get on the throttle. I highly, highly, highly recommend this if you have a Ram 1500 with the hemi. Make sure you get the correct "direct-fit" muffler. Mine has the offset 3" inlet and dual 2 1/4" outlet. Double check your stock muffler to make sure which one you have. Flowmaster sells the center inlet / dual outlet; center inlet / single outlet, etc. The attached pictures shows the stock muffle off, the stock inlets and outlets and the new Flowmaster muffler in place.
