This is every nerds dream for a wine flask. It is large and could contain more wine than what you might want to put in it.

Use this to decant wines, especially the ones that have aged to the point where there's lots of sediment. It's definitely not the fancy (and expensive) wine decanters that are available, and have a place on your table, if you'd like, but some friends think this choice is amusing and fun. Me? I just pour it back into the bottle after it's had its time breathing.

Great product for making yeast starters. Glass is sturdy enough to not shatter when bumped. I'm not sure about how it handles heat, bc I did not heat the wort directly in the flask. 2L flask is a great size to make starters for typical beers; I would probably want a 3L flask to make high gravity beers.

I use this for propagating yeast for brewing. It is sturdy and high quality. It is capable of receiving hot liquids. I use a magnetic stir bar on a stir plate and have had no issues with that either. The only difficulty would be that it is hard to clean, as any narrow-neck flask would be, so I recommend getting a large bottle brush with it.

This is an excellent quality item! Being made of Pyrex, you don't have to worry about sharp temperature fluctuations or boiling material in the flask. Different level amounts are indicated on the side of the container, and the glass thickness is reasonable. It's not so thin it's overly fragile. Definitely recommended for any science application or, as is the case for me, the creation of a yeast starter for beer brewing.

It is a 2000 ml Pyrex erlenmeyer flask. It was shipped in double box with large bubble wraps. Great quality, flat bottom. I use it for yeast starter, it works perfectly! Get 2 x 2000 ml Pyrex erlenmeyer flasks if you need a big starter instead of a 5000 ml generic one. Not only the quality of a generic brand is in question, have you actually seen the size of a 5000 ml erlenmeyer flask? I rather have 2 x 2000 ml than handling and storing a 5000 ml one!

I bought this to use as a wine decanter. It's functionally perfect. The 2L size aerates a bottle of wine very nicely. The beaded lip makes it fairly easy to grasp the flask securely for pouring. The shape makes for easier cleaning (using a bottle brush) than the sensuously curved traditional decanters. I would rate it 5* if it weren't etched (and, yes, I know it's lab glassware).
