I bought one of these for garden use, lighting campfires, etc and it worked fine, however the ignitor quit working after five or six uses and I have to use a lighter to light it, which runs the risk of burning the hairs off your knuckles. That one got stolen when my garage got broken into, so I recently bought a replacement. The ignitor on the replacement broke after one use. Still worth the money but wish they'd fix the fragile self ignitor.

Starter did not work at first. Need to go on line and understand to start the gas slowly at first. Has been working great.

Honestly, I have no complaints about this torch. Works as expected. It was very easy to ignite and I never had a flameout in either high winds or smothering the weeds. If you're looking to clear a huge area of weeds, look for a blow torch. This is designed to burn weeds in your sidewalks, garden and rock gardens. That's what I use if for and sorry I didn't buy this many years ago. Using chemicals is a waste of money. Much rather burn a propane tank which is reasonably priced and I don't have to worry about chemicals. I would definitely recommend this product for weed removal around your home.

Bought this to fight weeds without using chemicals. My front yard is rock, but it was installed with insufficient weed barrier. So I'm trying to kill weeds between rocks (not in grass). It works. You attach a Coleman propane bottle to it. There's a built-in "clicker" that lights the flame.Very ergonomic. It does burn the weeds, but I find it works best on taller weeds, not the low spreading weeds. It isn't as "powerful" as I expected for a flame thrower (basically). So for the "crawler" type weeds I'm back to chemicals but the taller weeds that come up in concrete cracks, etc. it works great.

Right out of the box, this thing worked the first time and has worked every time I've used it. Haven't made it through an entire propane bottle yet. It burns very efficient and that will be dependent on how high you run your torch and for how long at a time. This is not an industrial flame thrower, but for what it is, it is totally awesome! It does a great job of burning grass around the edges of my sidewalk, driveway, flower bed, pathway stones, poison growing on fence line, starting fires for fire pit and bbq's, scorching wood before staining, eliminating wasp nests, and anything else you might need to burn or torch. Don't forget to wear a mask or respirator when burning anything that gives off fumes or smoke.I don't know why I waited so long to make this purchase? Every homeowner should have one of these!Very light and easy to operate with one hand.

Great for our house block. Uses disposable gas cans. If you have a larger area then not really economical. We have 2 dogs so I won't use herbicides. With a very dry winter we have a lot of weeds and this item is doing a good job of getting rid of them. 500g gas can does the yard, front and back 3 or 4 times depending on the amount of weeds and frequency of use. I'm tall so a bit more length would have been nice. I recommend this item for a house block.

Got this 3 years ago. It’s been through rough times dropped in ashes hot coals let in wood stove to long to start soft wood and never disappointed .. until few weeks ago I tried 3 others on here recently and all 3 snuff out or low power issues even on full turns of control knobs , pilots did not work. All junk. I re bought this one as I know it will last a long time. It’s just good quality Vs others. Pilot lasted about a year on last one. And gets used every day to start wood stove in winter.

I've owned this for a few months now.A small tank of propane lasts about 5 burns for me--that's about 90 minutes of constant use per burn. I'm pleased with that.I used to spray weeds with weed killer. Aside from the dangers of toxicity, overspray, etc, I then had to wait until the weeds died before I could clean my walk, and by then new weeds were emerging.I need to burn my walks about once every 4 weeks. I find that each time I am finding fewer weeds.Yes, you can just blanch the weed and it'll die (the leaves turn bright green), but I've found that if you take the time and burn them to oblivion, the results are much more attractive. The walk is clean.Challenges are near plastic edgings and grass/mulch. For over mulch, I'll blanch the leaves and the weeds die in a day or two, but you must be careful because wood-chip mulch will smoke and no one wants a fire. The other day, I took this out to use it and it wasn't working. The igniter wasn't doing anything and when I used a lighter, the flame that came out was large and came out of everywhere. I'm a former firefighter, so I'm used to dealing with fire. This made me uncomfortable.I've read of similar experiences in other reviews.I let it cool down. When I looked at it, I found a small spiders' nest in the tip. I've read that spiders like gas, so it didn't surprise me. I used a toothpick to fish it out. When I hooked up the bottle again, it worked perfectly. The ignitor light the flame which shot like a small blowtorch. Now I check the tip before each use.
