I bought4 of these and each one lasted only about 12 to 18 inches of 1" white pine. Two of them just blew up into pieces and the other 2 the bearings fell off. I then went to the hardware store and paid $40 for a good one that did the entire job and ready for more....

I've finally had a few chances to utilize this bit, and it's turned out to be quite convenient for profiling material on either the top or bottom.Router bit prices can find their way into the stratosphere, and - frankly - for $12 or so, this is a good deal. For this fact alone, it's worth having around. The bit is long for a 1/4" drive, and therefore I've chosen to throttle down the router speed to roughly half and go nice and easy on the material feed. Doing so, I've felt confident that the shaft will hold up just fine. (I'm still a big proponent of safety glasses, regardless.)The blades have held up fine through softwoods and OSB so far (trimming sheathing around doorways). The bearings feel solid and smooth as well. All in all, this bit from FivePears (and one other in my collection) have performed very well for the price, and - if they do fly apart - I won't lose sleep over the price of replacement.

This is a long bit for 1/4" shank and I would only use it in a fixed base router table. In a handheld router this would be a bit sketchy for me. I examined the bit before loading it into my Craftsman 2 1/4 HP router and it looked good. The cutting edges both looked sharp and clean. The bearings moved freely, but I added a few drops of bearing oil just to be sure. I cut the speed down to 4 out of 6 and that seemed to be the appropriate speed for this bit. I needed to make a long sweeping curve for a cabinet bottom that I was building. I had the Masonite template pin nailed to what would be the back side of the piece and lined up the top bearing with my template. I was using oak and this bit was able to make the 3 foot curve look as though it was done by a professional. I was very pleased with the results. After completing this task I again examined the cutting edges and they did not seem worse for wear. I feel confident that it could do the same cut at least 3 more times. After that it would probably need to be re sharpened. For just over $10.00 for a duel bearing bit I am OK with that. I would much prefer a 1/2" shank for a bit of this length, because it is a pain to swap out the collet in my old router. For the money this is a good bit. I would think a professional would probably want to spend more and get a better bit. For a DIY guy like me this is fine, and I can recommend it. I have purchased other bits from this company, and they have performed well for the price....

This is an acceptable quality but for a one off job. Tear out was minimal but not nonexistent. The bearing and edge are well enough aligned. It took pretty thin bites but it does get the job done. Bearings at both top and bottom is very convenient. Sleeve that it comes packed in is convenient for storage.

I was looking for a quality flush trim bit for my Milwaukee Cordless M18 router. The long length of this bit was a great thing for me since I tend to build thicker tables. The bearing on the end of the bit works great and did not bind at all - a nice smooth motion keeping the cutters working very clean.I actually really like the plastic case that the bit comes in. After I complete the cut, I ensure that I blow out (with compressed air) the bit and put it back into the case to store it away. A tab of oil will also ensure it does not rust at all.Great product and worth the price.

This is my second FivePears router bit and so far this brand continues to impress me! A few specific thoughts:- This bit is very sharp. I used it to flush cut a piece of pine (pictured) that I had previously routed a small channel out of. The surface that I was routing with this bit was about 1¼" deep and this bit cut through it without any issue. I am not very good with flush cut bits, so there are some hesitation marks in the attached photo, but those are completely due to human error (and the split wood was due to a crack in the wood, not the router bit).- The bit construction/finish is very solid. I put it through its paces and it does not show any signs of wear, so I expect it to stay sharp for a long time!- When compared to other flush cut bits with the same dimensions, this bit consistently wins on price/value alone.
