Okay.... It says Fish Ball Chain. I want to describe what this is for someone who may not understand what it's used for. When you need to run a cable TV line, or a power line for a ceiling fan, or surround sound speakers, you often need to run it inside of an existing wall to keep it looking tidy. That's called "fishing" your wall. That's not always as easy as it sounds. Generally, you'd go up in the attic, or down to the basement, look for the header or footer stud, drill a hole in it, then feed your cable. Depending on what's in that wall, or how flexible your cable is, that can be simple, or an absolute nightmare.Enter this ball chain. Low Voltage installers, cable Tv Guys, Phone Guys, and A/V installation pros have used this trick for years, because it allows you to use gravity, and the flexibility of the ball chain to your advantage. You drill your hole, feed the ball chain through the hole, and whatever is in it's way, as long as it's not a complete obstruction, the ball chain will find it's way around it.Once the chain gets to the bottom of the wall, you can use a magnetic pick up tool to find it in the wall, then use it to pull the cable from point A to point B. If the ball chain can make it through, usually the cable can as well. This chain is strong. It is a higher quality than your average lamp pull, or key chain. It is in fact every bit of 16' long. If I fold it in half and measure mine, it's actually 8'7" long, which means in actuality it's 17' 2" long overall! It has a large split ring on one end, and a small split ring on the other with a brass threaded coupler on it. This is for attaching it to those fiberglass rods you can use for fishing cables through a drop ceiling, or under a crawl space.I recommend you keep the large split ring upstairs with you, and feed the chain down with no ring on it at all. The reason I say that, is that the large split ring will keep the ball chain from falling all of the way into the wall. because it's so flexible, and it's inherent design makes it low-friction, once it starts falling, it will not stop. The ring will hopefully be larger than the hole you drilled, and this will save you from having to dig in the wall with a coat hanger to find your precious ball chain. This is a really nice pull chain, it's really inexpensive as well. Buying this by the foot at My local hardware store would cost $2.25 per foot. You do the math... At 16' x $2.25 per foot, That's literally 3 times the cost of this ball chain. And this one has finished ends. And please don't get me started on How much they charge for one of these on an electrical contractor tool site.

Not sure why I have not bought this sooner! Pulling wire through conduit just got so easy and fishing wire with a flexible magnetic wand and this product is a game changer!

Ball chain seems to be nice and heavy. Looks like it will be good and not break as easily as others I've tried. Case was broken when received, but it's just plastic. Picture in description shows treaded end for use with Pull Rods, but it does not seem to come with it so that is disappointing and why I didn't' give it a higher rating. Overall seem good though.

Worked well with magnet and as a drop chain to wall wire pulling.
