This grate doesn't assemble as a solid piece! You put it together like a puzzle and who knows if it will stay together. You have to pick it up from the bottom and balance it while trying to keep it together in order to get it in the fireplace.

Good quality log holder, it looks nice by the fireplace too. It holds a decent amount of logs and is pretty sturdy. My only complaint is that it takes up quite a bit of space by the fireplace, but it' well worth the sacrifice of space to have plenty of logs sitting by the fire, dry and ready to go!

Vertical fire grate is a Great system but this unit is not fastened together and comes apart when touched during burn. Difficult to work around. I want to return mine for a different model.

I wanted to like this concept, but this particular grate isn't stable when in use. I put this together and put it in our fireplace, loaded it up, and lit the fire. When I went to add more wood, it seemed to crumple. I let it burn out, and looked at it to the next day. It doesn't seem to want to stay firm with any sort of structure. I don't feel safe using this grate in our fireplace.

My apartment has a fireplace, but no equipment is provided. When I saw this log holder, I had to pick it up. This arrived and I unwrapped everything and started putting it together. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. This is very heavy-duty black metal, each piece fits into a notch which holds everything together. The important thing with putting this together is to make sure you tamp the grates down with a hammer or rubber mallet, so they fit firmly into each notch. Once this was put together, I was able to pick this up and put it in the fireplace. This log holder can hold about 3 logs in the fireplace and after using it, it held up perfectly through a long fire. This is a great value for a log holder!

Well, it is really doesn't hold together when you are trying to put more wood. For me, solution is to weld it together and i got perfect vertical grate and only for 30 bucks.Consider it as kit you need to fabricate it yourself. Only for 30 buck.If you have MIG welder.....it would be perfect solution.

Unfortunately, this grate does not fit together well and had to be glued to actually work. Yes, it is cheaper than other brands out there, but sometimes it is better to pay up. It will serve our needs for now, but I don't feel that it is a product that I can recommend. I hope the company will take a good look at this product, as I feel that it has potential but the design needs a bit of tweaking.

First off, I am a big advocate of vertical grates in the fireplace. You get an easier to start, easier to fuel, fire, that is more efficient. BUT…This grate is not a good choice of vertical grates. The big problem with this vertical fire grate is that it is in seven separate pieces that LOOSELY slide together and easily fall apart. There is no way to lock the pieces together. Hammering the pieces together does not help at all because the slots are too big for the pieces to fit tightly together. I bought a tube of Rutland Stove and Gasket Cement (about $6) to glue the pieces together. That product can bond metal to metal and can stand temperatures up to 2000°F., and fully cures when you heat it up. It made this grate usable for me; but I would advise that you choose a different vertical grate if you can afford it. After a lot of contemplation, I gave this grate four stars, it is usable and costs a lot less than most vertical grates.
