Firefly adds firepower to your Swiss Army knife!
Firefly is a firesteel flint type fire starter tool accessory replacement for the Swiss Army knife toothpick. Designed and manufactured by Tortoise Gear for use in Victorinox brand knives.
Regular size Firefly replaces 50mm slanted top toothpicks for use in Victorinox knives 84mm and larger.
The Firefly is made from a superior custom ferrocerium misch-metal formula giving it many advantages. The softer custom metals mix provides greater flexibility making it less brittle and giving it double the break strength of a typical firesteel or ferrocerium formula. The softer metals formula also allows for bigger sparks without harming the relatively soft stainless steel metal tools of Swiss Army knives. The Firefly mix sparks very easily with very little pressure needed during the strike.
Every Firefly comes with a glow-in-the-dark top. When charged in sunlight this provides up to 12 hours of glow to help find your knife or Firefly at night. Two color choices are available: Neon green-yellow glow, and classic ivory glow.
Firefly products come in high quality packaging with fully illustrated instructions for use printed on the inside. The re-closable clam shell can be used to store removed toothpicks and extra Fireflys.
Firefly products are backed by a 1 month manufacturer warranty against any manufacturing defects.

I love these for a back up fire starter. They pair with the Swiss army camping knife well and will light your stove or fire if you forget a lighter. Very easy to use and lasts for a long time with careful use.

Not the easiest fire starter to use but it works well with practice. I HIGHLY recommend watching some YouTube vids of ppl using them cuz I had to hold mine different from my usual fire steel usage. You should also practice plenty with it if you want it to be useful in a pinch

For being very thin it throws of a lot of spark.

This is an awesome idea! Here in windy wyoming, the ferro rod is about the best method of firestarting because as soon as a spark catches the wind does the rest if the work for you. This is a great idea as the ferro rod is held protected inside your pocketknife. The rod itself throws reasonable sparks and with a modified method is more than enough to get a fire going

This is such a great after market mod for a Victorinox SAK. They aren’t really meant for heavy use but as a backup to not having a lighter or regular striker rod. But they do work well, especially when struck through the bottle opener’s wire stripper. If you have a corkscrew, then adding the helical waxed tinder gives hou all you need in an emergency.

This product broke within 10 seconds of using it. Additionally it is way to long to fit in the Victorinox Classic SD Swiss Army Knife. Sticks out by almost a half a centimeter. I would need cut it in size to make it work. I think I was just fleeced for a substandard product. Additionally I used pliers to hold the broken piece to try sticking again and the plastic head then broke off.

Okay I bought this because I thought it was cool. It is cool to me but it’s not the most practical, just not all that thick and it’s produces an okay spark. I never use my toothpick on the knife so this is a better more useable option so I’ll give it that. It is kinda expensive when you think it’s just 3 little sticks of ferro rod though.
