Its a bit messy and hard to properly clean the little green doohickey after you've used it, but it definitely got my bike chain nice and clean, so it does what it is supposed to do!

Watch online video on how to use it. Used it on a bike that had been stored for some time. The chain was almost black. I used the tool with the supplied solvent and the result is the chain is so clean it almost looks new. Be patient follow directions and you will be amazed.

I bought a used tandem and used this kit on both neglected chains. I was able to clean them and both were restored to good working condition. After seeing the amount of filth in the cleaning solution from the first closing pass, I thought I might be buying new chains in the near future. But I had the kit, so may as well finish what I started. After several more cycles with the cleaning solution, and treating the chains with the dry lube, both chains ran smooth and silent, and the front chain quit jumping cogs. Success!

Jan 19, 2024: This machine works as described. It clips on to the chain with solvent inside. The user holds the device handle with one hand to keep it in position, then turns the crank backwards with the other hand to move the chain through the brushes inside the device.I'd recommend doing it outside with a bike stand, against a wall, or with another person to hold the bike. Afterward, one allows the chain to dry then lubricates it.The solvent is supposed to be biodegradable. I used Dawn dish detergent to clean the device after use.The body of the device is plastic so shouldn't be handled roughly, but it's durable enough for its intended purpose. I think it's worth the purchase price since it automates a somewhat tedious task and is pretty thorough.

Do check to see if your bicycle chain has enough slack to lower the chain into the cleaning case.My bike chain isn't long enough to get into the cleaning case.Watch the Youtube video on the cleaning kit and see if you can stretch your chain into the cleaning case first before buying.

I've cleaned my single speed bike chain 3 or 4 times with this cleaner tool. It works reasonably well, but it doesn't stand up to repeated uses. Many of the bristles have fallen off inside the cleaner and one of the rollers has broken into small pieces. It's also not the easiest thing to use, since the nonlinear path of the chain through the cleaner makes it harder to turn the crank and push the chain through it.The degreaser solution seems to work well though, as well as the dry lube.

Wirklich gut durchdachte Mechanik.

I don't like having custom tools that do odd, infrequent jobs. I would rather use a set of brushes and rags to get my chain clean than have to store and port around a single-purpose tool. That said, I finally caved on buying one of these after multiple attempts at cleaning my chain in my tiny apartment. I used to wedge my bike in the shower so I could hose the thing down and, after getting grease everywhere, the darn chain was still only half clean.I got this thing and, after one use, will never go back. It gets the chain INCREDIBLY clean and it does it in 1/5 the time it used to take me to clean without it. It's easy to use and you don't have to find some weird place to use it since it's a self contained system. All the grease and road grime is caught and then can be sent down the sink. And there's a magnet in there to catch the inevitable small metal filings. Just remove the magnet when rinsing and all the filings are set free in a container of your choice. Fantastic. Rotating brushes get in between the links and a set of plastic flaps gets the top, bottom and sides of the chain as it slides by. The design of this thing really does get your chain clean. The included degreaser works very well. And it smells rather nice, like apples. The wax-based lubricant is also fantastic. I used to be a wet lube guy, but in NYC there is this black dust on everything and it just gums up your chain. I'll be sticking to this wax-based lubricant from here on out. After a cleaning and lubing, my shifts are lightning quick. More importantly, though, is how effortless it becomes to pedal. It's an astronomical difference.Highly, highly recommend.

I have 3 bikes, 2 road bikes and a mountain bike and the importance of keeping your chain and drive train clean cannot be overstated. After a few " episodes " of using a rag and toothbrush w/ WD40( not a good idea), I decided to go this rout as opposed to having a removable master link installed. The day I got it I cleaned my best road bikes chain. I used Simple Green as opposed to the fluid that came with it. IT WORKED GREAT !!! I ran the chain through a rag to get off the heavy dirt/grease,filled up to the line with straight Simple Green, gently pushed the top down and latched it(I didnt use the handle, seemed to be to awkward, just wrap your hand around it ) and ran the chain through about 30 revolutions, emptied and refilled again as the chain was kind of dirty.Ran the chain through a rag to get as much of the remaining SG off , then filled it up with clean water and repeated. It is important to remove whatever cleaner you use because if its left on it will dissolve whatever lube you put on. The chain came out VERY VERY clean, especially in between the links and it took maybe 15 min tops. Let it dry and lubed with the lube that came with it, which is decent stuff and the chain has been really quite and shifting very well since. You do have to hang on the unit pretty good when your running the chain through it and figure out the best way to place it so your chain doesnt drop off but its not rocket science, with a little practice and some youtube videos you'll get it figured out.You will get some liquid leaking but thats to be expected, just put a rag under it. The bottom line is, its easy and fast , works VERY well, and will make your chain cleaning/maintenance more regular which is really the KEY. Its not built like a tank but its not as fragile as some have said, its hard plastic, after all its a chain cleaner not an anvil so just be careful with it. Well worth the price and wish I had bought it sooner. I consider this to be as necessary as the lube because if you lube a dirty chain your just spreading the dirt/grime deeper in the links. My friends watched me clean my chains and all agreed it was a must have item and were impressed with how well it worked.I mean I can read HG on each and every link now. When lubing your chain you only need to put a drop on the rollers between the links, spin the chain through the gears, run through a rag to get the escess, and you can just wipe the sides with the excess you get off. anything more is just a dirt attractant. Let it dry overnight or at least 2 hours before a ride. My regular maintenance is to run the chain through a rag after each ride to prolong deep cleanings.
