I bought this to add some gray color to my gold 96-inch long curtains to match a rug. I thought that with the length of these spools, I would be able to use four continuous pieces on two curtains. No. Each spool had an unraveled burnt piece about 12-inches long somewhere along the spool. For short pieces you could work around it, but not for a continuous piece.

I bought this Gimp braid to use on a reupholstry project. The colors matched well but as soon as I made cuts to the braid it became easily unraveled.I fixed the issue by folding the frayed end under and stapling. By stitching the frayed bits to the intact, I was able to maintain structural integrity.
