If you don't have a clue how to use this, watch the YouTube video "Optical Fiber - LC Mechanical Terminals - How to use and install them?" There are a lot of things to learn, and it might be time to crack a book: "Professional Fiber Optic Installation, v.10: The Essentials For Success" and "Fiber Optic Installer's Field Manual, Second Edition" are sold on Amazon.This kit has the tools to do the job, but not the fiber connectors, or (of course) the fiber. This kit is for casual use, if you are to do this all day, Amazon has higher grade tools.One question I had, as a beginner, was "where is what you need to glue and polish the fiber?". It turns out that the answer is fascinating! The industry has evolved, and you don't need to polish fiber the way they used to. At least unless you are doing super-high-bandwidth work for a telecom company.There is some opto-mechanical magic used in modern "pre-polished" connectors that makes polishing unnecessary, and you only have to cleave the fiber and clean it. The "pre-polished", "fast", or "quick" connector actually contains a short span of optical fiber which is already installed in it, and the outer end of that fiber, which interfaces with the SFP or other equipment, is already polished. The end of that fiber inside of the connector is not in air, it's in a transparent gel that has the exact same refractive index as the fiber. When you insert your fiber into the connector, it is pushed into this gel until it reaches the butt of the pre-polished fiber, and the gel fills all of the imperfections between your fiber and the pre-polished one. Since the gel has the same refractive index as the fiber, the imperfections disappear! Light goes through as if you have polished your fiber.
