The brightness level is as advertised. The lite appears very well made and is easy to use. I have never had a lite with the options to increase the lite intensity, as this one is.If you are into flashlites, this is a good one to have

I like this light for the size, and the brightness. It’s very well made, and I like that it doesn’t take proprietary batteries. It does get quite warm on turbo mode, and will dim down in short order. Overall a great flashlight!

I own a Fenix PD35 2020 edition and it has held up amazingly but I wanted an upgrade. This is an upgrade for sure.Pros:Extremely bright, has a nice hotspot and outer light edge.Rear has dual buttons thats much better than the shaft button (like on PD35) so no accidental strobe triggersUSB-C charging with waterproof portCons:This thing is about 1.5x bigger in width than the PD35. (This isn't really a con to me but was a surprise when I got it out of the box)It is not an 18650 (does come with its own battery) - Sorry 18650 usersOverall thoughts:Well worth the money. VERY sturdy build like all Fenix products and I have had no issues so far. Very happy!

Wirklich gute Leuchtkraft. In der hellsten Stufe wird die gut warm aber das ist bei den LED Lampen ja normal. Akkulaufzeit ist gut.

Best flashlight I’ve ever owned very hard very durable and you can charge it with the battery in it and all the settings that you can go. This is one bright light enough to blind you.

No joke I've used this thing as a hand warmer. Theoretically, it might also be useful as a defensive weapon since it's so bright and has an instant strobe button. It's 5 brightness settings are fully adequate for all purposes in the jail. The only gripe I'd have is the case is not adequate. If it's brightest setting is on, 15 seconds of you not noticing it turned on in the case and the case melts. Ask me how I know.

Bought this torch for hiking and general use around the house. It's very bright, even on lowest setting it provided plenty of light to hiking on a trail. Worth the price.

While this Fenix PD36R Pro gets amazingly bright at the higher power levels (3-5) I use it indoors in darkness at either eco or low (levels 1 or 2) to maintain some night-vision. I got one of these to compare to a Milwaukee 2161-21 which is similar in dimensions and construction. The Fenix pencil-beam light is more cool and imparts a bluish cast, while the warmer Milwaukee led shows colors correctly and the Milwaukee's much more broad, even and smooth beam can be focused from spot to flood without annoying light intensity rings to distract the eye. The two button interface which works well to operate the Fenix, and the 3.6V LG 21-700 5000 mAh 18Wh NCM battery are definite game changers, and a real step-up from the aging 4V Panasonic 18-650 3000 mAh 12Wh NCA RedLithium of the Milwaukee (same cells as used in earliest Tesla EVs). As a final point of comparison, the intended tactical use of the Fenix and "Jobsite" use of the Milwaukee while different, are actually similar environments with inherent rugged use implied to both. I find myself reaching for the milwaukee despite its lower max lumens (1100 vs 2800) for everyday and indoor use and have the Fenix in my truck for tactical/search and outdoor purposes. Thank you for reading! Takeaways:Fenix PD36R Pro: Likes-- 1) Dual switches, 2) newer battery tech, 3) extreme brightness setting. Dislikes--1) bluish CRI, 2) no ability to focus beam, 3) charge port protected by tiny flimsy rubber flap.Milwaukee 2161-21: Likes--1) ring-free, smooth focusable beam, 2) "High definition Trueview" LED color, 3) charge port protected by sturdy aluminum ring. Dislikes: 1) pocket clip a little short, 2) needs updated (upgraded?) battery tech

I love flashlights and this is a great one. These are very powerful flashlights that fit easily in the hand, and do not require fumbling around to find the two control buttons, as both are in the end cap, are large and easily distinguished . The two button arrangement makes it very easy to turn on and select the power level you want. The two lowest powers are both useful and do not seem to drain the battery very quickly. We live in an area with many animals, and the higher powers pick up reflections from eyes in the forest if you hold the device close to your own eyes. The highest power is stunning, but caution is needed. It would be dangerous store this device in a way the buttons might accidentally be pushed, and not be noticed, such as in a backpack. At high power, a great deal of heat is generated very quickly, and I have little doubt that it could damage plastics or paper next to the light if left on for more than a few seconds. The USB C charging connection is very convenient. It charges surprisingly fast. The rubber cover for the charging port seems a bit fragile, but I have had no problems with it so far. The belt holster is necessary and adequate. I would not carry the device in a pants pocket.
