Metal center layer keeps gasket from slipping out of position during installation, extra thickness provides additional valve cover clearance

Perfect, thick and no leaks. Make sure to use some adhesive spray glue first to glue these to the valve cover. Don't over tighten. Work great and no leaks.

I had the 1635 gaskets on a Dart Big m 540 with Dart Pro 1 heads, which leaked at rear corners. Valve covers are not bent(they are thick aluminum) and head sealing surface is flat and clean. Used these with ARP studs and stainless locknuts, and solved the problem.

I struggled for years with oil leaking / weeping from the big block valve covers on my 67 Corvette. I have solid lifters so I am in once or twice a year to do valve adjustments. In the past I would have to swap out the gaskets after an adjustment, but no more now that I have the fel-pro 1630s, and the leaks are gone! I used the cheap cork before to save a few bucks, but forget that! I bought the fel-pro 1630s and used yellow weatherstrip adhesive to apply them to just my valve covers then let dry overnight. The next day I lightly coat the bottom of the gasket with clean oil, then apply to my aluminum heads with almost no torque to the bolts and there is never a leak! These are a few bucks more but believe me are a great investment, I just wish I had bought them years ago!
