This item is well made and handle very large heavy hickory and oak tree trunks rotating them easily so they can be cut on the opposite side when sawing through the trunk on the ground. The hook grabs the bark well to help rotate the tree trunk on the ground.

The last time I held a peavey, I was 15 (1965). This peavey feels like it has a thicker shaft than I remember. The quality seems at least equal or better than the one I used. The handle on the peavey I received was a good looking piece of wood with a fine straight grain pattern.

The PV was exactly as I expected. I have already used it moving logs and it works great. Kudos to the manufacturer.

it's unfair for me to give it a three-star rating I'm sure the three times in my life I'm going to need this thing I'm going to be glad I bought it however it's not what I needed it's good enough tool I'm not going to return it so I gave three stars its my bad forget that I need a larger one than what I really did it's actually a great tool... Notably it's not that 100 years tool it's more like a 30-year tool quality but it's price/quality ratio I would consider acceptable and I'm a cheapskate

Amazing tool. I should have bought one years ago for moving logs but I didn't know these existed.

For the price this is absolutely the best product for your logging needs. I haven't used it yet but I'm pretty sure when the next storm goes thru I will be prepared, this time, to get the trunk of that tree rolled around with ease for logging.Make sure your footwear, such as a good boot, is prepared to help stomp that initial hook into the log. This has heft and girth but will get the job done when used properly.

When this arrived the handle was extremely dried out and needed to be brought back to life. I had seen a couple of reviews where the handle broke. If you use this log roller as received, it will probably break. What I did, and do with all of my wood handle tools, is scrape the factory finish off with the edge of a file. I use a file because the little grooves it leaves in the wood give me a better grip. Then I rub it down with raw linseed oil. A good heavy coat once a day for a week, then once a week for a month, then once a month for a year and then once a year thereafter. My handle was so dry that it developed cracks you slip a recipe card into. After just one week of linseed oil the cracks have swelled shut. Besides the handle needing attention the rest of the roller looks to be very heavy duty should last for years to come.

I've used this peavy at my sawmill for the last few months and honestly, I struggled with it. Not because the handle was too big (I expect it to be sturdy to handle the weight), but I couldn't get a good grip on logs when trying to roll them. I had a half dozen 100 foot pines cut down and after cutting them into 14 foot sections, I was still struggling. I took the tool to the shop, disassembled, and used a flap disk to sharpen the hook point. 5 minutes later and I finally had a PERFECTLY functional cant hook and I was rolling 4000 pound logs around the yard like Paul Bunyan. Oil the handle like you should, sharpen the point, and this tool won't let you down.
