Please do not read the the off topic reviews with such uneducated statments. Assuming that because one culture has used this types of skirt that they are the only ones who have ever used them. (Forehead slap) I swear its like some people never read history or look outside of their own area. These type of skirts are rightly honored in many folk culture dances. Specifically character dance which has been around for over 500 years. These character skirts are used in almost every culture that does classical or folk and obviously tribal (thats been spotlighted in like 5 reviews). Please know that so many cultures has used these ribbion bottom skirts in dances for hundreds of years. In fact character dance in cultures like Sweden, Russia, France and Italian have used this ribbon end skirts in their culture and they are symbolic to their enriched history amd legacy just as much as tribes has. As a ballet dancer of an art form that is over 500 years old who has studied character dance these type of uneducated statments are spreading the wrong messages to the public. That one culture is more important then another and definitely not something that is culturally fair.

This is cultural appropriation. Stop using Native American traditional clothing for profit. The sale of this clothing is also illegal under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990. It is illegal to offer or display for sale, or sell, any art or craft product in a manner that falsely suggests it is Indian produced, an Indian product, or the product of a particular Indian or Indian tribe or Indian arts and crafts organization, resident within the United States.

I’m Native American and these are ribbon skirts. we had these made as our traditional wear. these aren’t just regular skirts. I’m not one to stir stuff up but this is not okay by any means.

The only thing I dislike more than cultural appropriation is misrepresentation/minimization of my race. This dress fits both categories. Its probably good quality though.
