Let me start by saying theres alot of different reverse alarms available on Amazon and I've tried several of them and let me say, they are all different. So it really depends what your looking to get out of your reverse alarm. If your looking for a "commercial worthy grade" alarm this don't hesitate and buy this one now, you will not be disappointed! It is louder than most any back up alarm you hear on commercial vehicles like Semi trucks, delivery trucks, etc... And it has a nice deep tone to it. Definitely will get the attention your looking for while your backing up. Now, if your looking for a more mellow tweety-bird type sound, or just a calm audiable beep beep beep then this one probally not gonna be for you. So really just depends what you wanna get out of your back up alarm

This thing is awesome!! I got rear ended not too long ago and the alarm held up to a speeding F-250 going atleast 50mph. I took it off my old truck and put it on my "new" truck, and it still works like a dream!!

When it comes to vehicle safety items, you can't be cheap. This Federal Signal back up alarm fits the bill well for my work trucks. 97 decibels is loud enough for most environments to get people's attention. However, there are still people that don't pay attention to the alarm, so you always have to double check your surroundings. This alarm has been installed on for one week as of this review, and is holding up to the weather and dirt well.On a side note, I did wire in a switch so that I can turn the alarm off from inside the cab as I wish. Plowing residential driveways in winter early in the morning, some people don't take kindly to the noise of an alarm, so this way I can silence it when needed.

First things first - the picture and some of the description is ambiguous as to whether one or two - You get one for your order of one "set". n As that is all I was expecting, I am OK.I bought this as a replacement for a dead ECCO backup alarm. I thought it would be a simple swap, but it was not. The reason is that the posts on the Federal are much smaller (about #6) and more closely spaced than the ECCO, (about #12 - 7/32) so all my electrical connectors had to be replaced to a smaller size. So a couple of minute job turned into an hour job working under the vehicle and playing with wires in a tight place.Sound is loud enough and a bit on the higher pitch than the ECCO. Further observation, the posts appear to offer a lesser profile for water intrusion as it transitions to the epoxy block as compared to the dead ECCO. But only time will tell if that observation is correct.
