Installed this on my Tacoma since the doors were rattling with the volume up. This kit is perfect for all 4 doors with a little bit of left over. The cabin is quieter. The doors feel more substantial when opening and closing and the audio quality has been improved.

Thinner than expected, not bad for the price

Ok - so you re wondering if FatMat can do what Dynamat or many other products in this category can. And the answer is yes. It works great on a car - doors, trunk, floor, behind the dash, etc. It is not an insulation panel to mount on walls of a home nor is it intended for any use inside the home (unless you've thought of a way to use this somewhere I have not). 25 sq ft was not enough to do the entire interior of a car - 50 sq ft was more than enough to cover all of the interior (except the trunk). The net benefits of the install was a much quieter ride inside the convertible it was used in - although (caveat coming), I topped the FatMat with some thick sticky HVAC insulation material, some roofing product with the same rubbery base, with some closed cell foam and last but not least, a layer of carpet underlayment with a moisture barrier (all on the floor of the car - remainder of interior was FatMat only). The kit (blade and roller) come in very handy to finish install in a jiffy. It is huge amount of work in most cases if you are completely re-doing an interior like I was but if someone is just looking to re-do a set of doors or a simple floor install - this is simple to use. I did use a heat gun to make the product pliable so I could cut and shape and wedge into some of the tight corners inside a car. Thankfully - had almost zero interior to work with. All in all - highly recommend this product (in combination with some of the others mentioned in the review - all Lowe's or Home Depot stuff).

This kit gave me enough to get all four doors and my spare tire well done on my Subaru XV. The product adds just the right amount of sound proofing to let your stereo sound it's best, without adding a massive weight. The doors now sound more solid when being closed. I have all my speakers baffled, so I didn't think that the matting would make too much difference to the sound of the stereo, well......I was wrong! The sound from my system(Kenwood head unit, Polk Audio speakers, Alpine sub.)is Much more focused and clear. I also don't need to turn up the volume as loud now(but still do because of the ether sound). If you are on the fence about doing a project like this, go for it, you will not regret the time it takes, it's worth every minute and penny. The matting is easy to cut and work with. Just a side note, I did the job in 70 degree weather and used a hair dryer on high to get the product to adhere better to the door. I installed a Borla exhaust, doing the spare tire well did help with the noise level in the cabin.

I've been restoring a miata for a while now, and have always been bothered by the level of noise and harshness in those cars. That said, I was only "so" bothered, and not willing to spend dynamat prices to do anything about it. When I stumbled upon this I figured I'd give it a try.To be honest, I have no prior experience with dynamat or any sort of sound-proofing mats out there. But this is a nice kit they send you, I made some use of the roller tool they provide you. The product seems quite high end, and while I haven't gotten the car quite on the road yet I'm pretty confident it'll provide some noise damping improvements. I don't think you can do wrong with buying this, and cost comparison you definitely can't.

This definately does the job as advertised, fairly easy to apply and does prevent all the little rattles where placed. Problem is the tar smell is overwhelming, so much so that I removed it a couple days later and used Dynamat extreme which left absolutely no pungent odor to deal with. I definately learned my lesson trying to take a cheaper route here, never again!

Here's my caveat....I installed FatMat in 35 degree weather (in my garage - so a bit warmer, but not much). The adhesive was a little pathetic, I must say. However, it still did stick to the inside of my doors with a little work using the supplied roller. Maybe the lack of sticky is designed in so you can correct a mistake if you don't line it up perfect the first time. FatMat is very easy to cut and with the roller will eventually move into contours.FatMat seems to work really well. I have never tried Dynamat so I can't compare it to other similar products, but for the money, it did what I wanted. Dynamat is much more expensive and that sent me looking for alternatives. That's how I landed on FatMat. And like I said, it did what I was trying to acheive as far as vibration reduction in the door panels so I'll label it a success for now. Like I said, not very sticky at all, however I installed at a very cold temperature (instructions suggest somewhere around 70 degrees for install).Hats off to FatMat for supplying the roller and a knife to cut the mat with. Very appreciated. If it was stickier, I would have given it 5 stars. Nice product for the money though.

This is a great product and much better value than its competitors. This stuff is super sticky with a quality metal backing. I've used the other brands and this is a solid product for an awesome price. It wont let you down. For best results use with a hairdryer or heat gun (preferably). A tip to would be installers, leave the sheets out in the sun for about 20-30 mins before install because it will make it much more plyable and easier to install. The included roller definietly comes in handy to get out the bubbles and ridges and ensure a tight bond, although I personally prefer a more heavy duty rubber roller.I used this kit on two front doors (on the inner and outer skins of the door) of a 1998 Nissan Maxima, a trunk lid and some miscellaneous small metal parts in the trunk that were vibrating, and I still had some left over. I plan on getting some more to do the floor of my trunk and rear doors. There are tons of positive reviews on this brand all over the web, so if you are hesitant, go ahead and look them up. But for the price you CAN'T go wrong.
