This product works great on our horses hooves. The ad is messed up tho. I wanted to start getting the bigger bucket and did order it but still got shipped the small one. I did only get charged for the small one. Please fix your ad to reflect the correct size and cost related to the 2 products. I would prefer to order the larger size.

I have a horse who when I purchased him had laminitis, rotation, and the coffin bone pushing into the sole I was told by my farrier to feed horseshoers secret (larger amount was recommended than what product states) and this grew out his hoof quickly and in much better shape than the existing hoof. We have been using it since August 2018 and we have almost grown a whole new hoof in that time have just about an inch and a half left of old hoof. My horse likes the pellets (not a fan of the powder when pellets break down). My farrier is so happy with the progress we have made using this product.

I was giving my two horses a supplement with iron but they are now showing signs of iron overdose especially sun bleaching, split ends, mane that won't grow, chronic thrush and tender feet. I bought this product because it has no iron and contains a good dose of copper to counteract the excess iron in their system. The first thing I noticed when I opened the bucket was the smell. It stinks. Both my horses are exclusively pasture fed. Horse A will eat and try a lot of stuff I feed him by hand but horse B will not. He is just learning to eat things that don't resemble grass from my hand.Horse A would not eat the hoof pellets alone. I had to mix them with some sweet smelling feed to get him to eat it. Horse B would not eat it even when it was mixed it with other feed. He would actually eat the feed and spit out the pellets. I tried may things and had some success by mixing the pellets with water until it forms a mush and then adding molasses. He still doesn't love it but will eat it with coaxing. It's time consuming but I expect improvement over time.I ordered another 11 lb. bucket and will comment on whether this product works in 6-8 months.Aug.1, 14: I've used this product for only five months but I am ready to do a follow-up.I mix the recommended amount with two handfuls of other feed. Horse A continues to like it, horse B stopped eating it so I had to go back to making a slurry with water and mixing it into other feed. Now I have horse C who also eats it with no problem. My results are not scientific because too many factors have changed. First of all, we are having the worst drought in 20 years so the dry weather has helped with thrush. Second, I have used more vinegar baths, creams, hoof casts, Vet-tec shoes, and trimming methods then in the past. However, in the past three years I have tried all types of things, too, and never had the same positive results. I would say that my horses' hooves are better then they have ever been and it does have a lot to do with this product. They are not 100% yet but I would give them a good 80%. Unfortunately, I can't give them a dose everyday. I usually give them a dose four days in a row and then I'm away for about a week.Horse A was my biggest problem and now he has faster hoof growth and stronger soles. His feet are less tender and he is more enjoyable to ride. Best of all I'm not fighting with thrush that won't go away - its under control. His mane is still a bit ratty even though I'm also using a lot of coconut oil on it.I believe that horse A suffered from iron overload and this product was what he needed to push out the excess and replace it with the copper he needs to kill the thrush and give him healthier hooves. Its a good mix of essential minerals some of which my pasture fed horses are probably lacking. I will continue to use it.
