I have one small comment. The Farberware Double Boiler is worth every cent of the price.

I like to use my double boiler for making things like candy and pies. My old set of a different brand had started to loose it coating. I searched for an affordable stainless steel set of this quality as I own a 3quart pot like it. I'm very pleased with the quality and the weight of the double boiler. It's not as big as the one I am replacing but that's ok. I knew it was a bit smaller. I had this set in my wish list and when my husband asked what I would like for Valentine's I put it in my cart! I am not only old school but practical! I definitely would recommend this double boiler.

We use this to keep the chili warm on our grill in our food trailer. It works great and shows no wear after three years of use. So I bought this second one to keep another dish hot when we expanded our menu. Good product.

I needed a double boiler to make my great grandmother's ice cream recipe in, and for other things along the line. This one works wonderfully, an is not that much different from the one my mother had, which she got in the 1950's. I hope I get as much use and life out of these as my mother got out of hers. You can use the bottom part to cook other things in too, so it's really a multi-use kitchen ware. It seems to cook very evenly, and with that test passed, there isn't much more which it lacks. An easy five stars.

I have my Grandmother's double boiler -- this double boiler -- and it's as good as new. Great for melting chocolate (brownies), cheese sauce, etc., -- anything that might otherwise burn on the stove. Works like a charm -- gets rid of a lot of stress. I also use the pan (off stove) for mixing the brownie batter. I got a new one for my daughter because she didn't want to wait forever to get her great-grandma's.

Fondly remembered from my 70s childhood, Farberware came to my rescue recently for melting chocolate for a special occasion cake. Albeit thinner than those of yore it did its job and is easy to store. Recommended.

Farberware has always been my favorite brand for pots and pans. Married over 50 years, having owned a restaurant for half of those years and having tried many materials and brands, this is still the best for heat distribution, easy cool-down (and heat-up), very easy cleaning and maintenance, and the price cannot be beat. I have my original, 52-year old entire Farberware pot set with the double-boiler. Since my retirement, I'm back to doing crafts and all sorts of things I put aside when I opened a business. I bought this double-boiler for the use in making hand soaps of all things! It seems best to do crafts in separate pots not used for cooking food. This particular double-boiler is a little smaller than my original, but not by much. The lower pot is 6" wide and 4" high; whereas my old pot is 7.25" wide and 4.25 high. I knew right away this was smaller, but it will serve the purpose just fine. If you are using this for melting chocolate or cheese, reheating food and for all other food purposes, the general workings of this double-boiler prove to do an easy job of it with just about 3" of water in the lower pot, which will just about skim the bottom of the upper pot. The lower pot is a 2 quart pot, as indicated by the "stamp" (engraving) on the bottom of the pot. The upper pot has no indication of its volume, but I filled it with water to measure it for this review, and it holds 4 cups to the very top. I also want to let you know that the upper pot does not have the thick bottom as the lower pot does; therefore I don't think it can stand alone as an additional cooking pot. The cover fits both the upper and the lower pots.

I only gave it 4 because of it’s size. It is good quality, but small. It is only for small amounts. I wanted to use it for making yogurt, but it is really to small. I start my yogurt with around 2 quarts of milk and when it is time to put in the yogurt starter, there isn't enough room. I didn't return it because I had used it, to try it out, and it actually is a good quality product. So, good product, just not big enough for what i needed. Delivery was very fast.

I totally love this double boiler. Both pots have a good sturdy, heavy bottom so there's no tippiness at all which is a huge relief. Nothing more scary than two pots together and one or the other doesn't sit securely on the stove. The smaller one nestles in perfectly and seals up so no water boiling over. The lid sits on top easily as well. I really the pot's size - it fits perfectly on the small burner on the stove. I'm using it to melt beeswax for candles. This pot is an excellent purchase, worth the cost and I do recommend it. I would absolutely buy this again if I ever need another one.
