This vent is not rated for dryer ventilation, the screen will trap lint and could create a fire risk. Quality constructed from heavy duty 28 gauge galvanized steel. The FAMCO SDWVG wall vent includes a ¼ inch mesh screen to prevent duct intrusion by foreign objects, as well as a built-in hinged backdraft damper. We purchased 2 of these vent caps for the purpose of venting our C02 lasers through our building wall. They come with the screen and the flap so you don’t need to worry about bugs or air coming back into the vent pipe!

I bought this mainly for the looks and the fact that it is painted metal and not cheap plastic. In that sense, it did not disappoint. It's a very nice looking cover. What's not impressive is the damper on it, which is flimsy, ineffective and makes banging noises on windy days.

Removed the 35 year old six inch vent and installed this 8” vent for the new kitchen exhaust. The damper is attached in a way that keeps it from closing flat. Contacted famco directly with no response. Do not recommend this product.

This was perfect to complete the install on our Thermadore Hood !Caution the internal flap is very loud and rattled at low air flow levels.I installed a sheet metal screw to fasten it in the open position to eliminate the rattle. Otherwise the unit is good.

Great unit, installed easily in my brick home. Mine has a insect screen behind the flapper and it looks and works well. Will match the rest of the copper on the house once it turns. Would buy again. Shipping was packed very well, no damage.
