I bought these because the "name brand" who sells these sells them at a ridiculous price, probably 4x the price of these (pro rated per mute). I have had other cheap string mutes from China, but they take a long time to arrive. I thought these would be on par with those cheap Chinese mutes. They are not. After only several weeks of using them the "padding" that mutes the string no longer stay in line with the "strap" portion. So sliding it up and down the neck when needed caused something to stretch out of shape so the strap no longer keeps the padding in place. Initially I thought they were very good for the price, but I will have to replace them. Just my experience.

When you really want to play that funk jam on bass, but generally suck as a bass player and can't control vibrating strings and harmonics, this item is for you.If you only want to be able to engage half of the first fret and feel like fighting mid-song with an obstruction on your first fret, this item is for you.Honestly, I don't want this on my bass all the time, but there are some songs that I really need it and it does what it advertises. It'll control those unwanted harmonics and vibrating strings when you're really getting into the groove.I use this on a Jazz bass with a thinner neck profile. It fits fairly well and I don't have to ratchet it down to get the velcro to latch. But, that's about the maximum size this item will allow without starting to mute the strings you actually want to keep vibrating.

I prefer this over the Gruv Gear Fretwraps because the velcro lasts longer, and is cheaper. Easy to install and won't scratch the guitar neck. 5 stars and would buy again.

This is the first set of string muters. I've been using them for about 4 months. They barely fit on my 7 string, but they fit on all of my other guitars no problem, both acoustic and electric. One of the two is fraying quite a bit. This hasn't effected the function of the muter, but the quality feels somewhat cheap. They appear to be much thinner in width than the ones I've seen at guitar stores. These are the first I've owned so I dk how well they work compared to others. I will update this review as time moves on to show how well it holds up.

I recently got back into playing electric bass after many years of not, and bought this to help quiet my strings as I play. It works fine for what I need it for and the material its made of seems very durable and I believe it will hold up very well. It is easy to use- just wrap it around the neck of the instrument and fasten it through the loop and its done in seconds. Its very inexpensive too, so the value of that plus it's other positives equals money well spent.
