These filters/water softeners are a must have on plumbed in coffee machines icemakers etc. It would be great if they had some sort of visual indication when they needed to be changed. What’s amazing is these are half price on Amazon compared to what they’re sold for locally.

The filters work in conjunction with other systems if you own and espresso machine and you're trying to protect it from hard water and or crappy tap this does work!

I have used this cartridge (7SO) to filter water for my coffee system for 10 years. I replaced the cartridge this week 12/20/13 and ran into a serous seal problem. It would not seal properly and leaked all over the under counter within hours of installation. When inserting the cartridge I noted it went in extremely easily, usually there is more resistance as the seals compress. I isolated the problem to the O ring seals on the new cartridge. I can only guess the size of the O ring was to small and/or reduced in diameter when stretched to fit in the capture ring such that it would not make a compression seal. . I replaced the new seals with the O rings on the old cartridge and got a good seal. I inspected the O ring and could not see any cracks/nicks on its surface. I am notifying the manufacturer of the problem
