This is a solid well made macheteThat came with a very sturdy scabbard.Seems well balanced, will need additional sharpening but I kinda expected that!Wish the scabbard was more molle compatible with a velcro enclosure vs. a snap.Seems to be well made and worth the slightly higher price than comparable ones.

Definitely good value for the money, the edge was full n I had to hit it with my sharpening stone but it’s nice and sharp now and hasn’t lost the edge at all, perfect size after I broke my Chinese steel machete and I already put the durability to the test and it passed, it will cut what you need it too, the weight is perfect and the handle is fantastic giving you almost zero shock so you can swing for days. Only problem with this is the sheath, very lose and it rattles when carrying it on your belt. Other than that great machete👍

The good: Blade is quality and USA made. I like the protective paint finish. Should keep it from rusting. The saw blade is gnarly and rips right through thick vegetation. Rubber handle grip is cushy and will last. Grip is great. Great heft. The bad: The sheath is reinforced with a solid plastic sleeve. Seems solid but geez it clunks around in it loudly. If you need to wear on a belt the clunk clunk clunk is annoying as hell. The blade is thick and cuts much more like an axe than a razor. Downward swings and a blunt hit seem a better fit than side to side hacking.I’m going to spend some tight sharpening more to see if I can improve the edge for hacking.

When I found out Estwing made a machete I was instantly curious about it, because I love their hammers. Let me tell you- this machete did not disappoint! I keep it on my saddle in the suppled scabbard as my trail riding machete. It allows me to keep our trails clean and clear. The durable construction and the hammer style handle allow me to land perfect blows with ease! This machete will make finger sized limbs feel like butter, is a great chopper for sapling size (possibly a little larger) trees, and the saw back is sharp and functions well. It is also handy around the camp site- as I even used it to split a little kindling when I first got it. I’m convinced you can’t go wrong with any Estwing product. Don’t waste your money on $10-20 overseas constructed machetes, pay a little more and get one that will actually last hold up to the beating: the Estwing EBM Machete!

I have used large and small knives and machetes since I was young but this estwing machete is very well made and durable and will last a long time. Do not hesitate to buy it if you need such a tool.

This is a strangely designed machete. It is extremely well balanced, and I could swing this clearing a trail all day. However this is not a thin "for tall grass only" kind of blade. The twelve inch blade is 4 mm thick with almost zero give. Combine that with an extra long handle and you can really generate some power chopping. I don't have much use for the saw back feature, however it may prove useful for notching. This thing is ugly as sin, but it just feels "right" in the hand as soon as you hold it. I also like the fact that it is one solid piece of steel, all the way through the handle. The handle is one of the most comfortable machete handles I have ever used. I own many Estwing tools, and the nylon shock absorbing material is awesome. It makes chopping a less wrist breaking experience. My only problem with this machete was that Estwing put some kind of varnish on the edge of the blade, so plan on doing some sharpening to remove that. This machete took an extremly sharp edge just like my estwing axes. All in all I like this machete quite a bit. It's turning out to be an excellent roughneck tool around the yard, and I can't wait to take it out fishing and camping.

This is good for clearing out vegetation that you can grasp in one hand while cutting, sawing, hacking or digging with this tool in the other hand. Long handle for extra reach or to use two hands. Point of balance is good at about 1/2" up the blade from the guard. Saw-tooth spine has long teeth sticking out in alternating directions, which can saw or hack through softer material (vines, thin branches, rope, tall grass) but not thick hardwood unless you want to risk bending the teeth. Chops nicely as the long handle allows you to hit with plenty of momentum, more like a hatchet. Blade edge comes with a rough grind that is easily touched up, and the blade is highly molded so it is thicker in parts while thinner in others. Steel is mystery "U.S. steel" which I think is 1060 or 5160 because it is nice and springy, but not too springy -- this is a burly beast of a tool! It does indeed appear to be a single piece of steel with just a bolster and rubbery material covering the tang -- I am not worried that it will fail. It is light for its size and absorbs shocks nicely without stiffly transferring the shock to your hand. This is too large and unwieldy for hunting, especially given the saw-tooth spine and the fact that it comes with a coating that rubs off with use. Rust has not been a problem yet. It has "U.S.A." in large letters molded into the blade and printed on the handle, so everyone will know where this was made. Comes with a functional but basic stiff nylon sheath that fits a 2 1/2" wide belt, both knife and sheath in factory-sealed packaging so you know it's new. Highly recommended. And yes: this will definitely take care of any wayward zombies!
