About this item

  • Brown Tripoli buffing compound is typically used for cutting and removing scratches from aluminum and stainless steel. This compound is also commonly used for bringing out a high luster on wood.
  • Weight: 1 Lb. | Size: 1 lb. (7” x 1 ⅞” x 1 ¼”) | Medium Coarse | Made in U.S.A.
  • Great for medium cutting, coloring, and remove scratches for rubber, horn, and wood. It can also be used on aluminum, brass, copper, gold, pewter, silver/brass/copper plates, stainless steel, plastic, and more. The Brown Tripoli compound is versatile, as it can be used for generic purposes for both buffing and polishing - removing scratches while leaving a lustrous finish.
  • Applied on buffing wheels. To apply, simply spin a buffing wheel on a motor or drill and gently press the compound to the wheel. The heat and friction of the spinning wheel will be enough to transfer a small amount of the compound onto the wheel for polishing.
  • All polishing compounds are manufactured and packaged in U.S. facilities and have been stored in a cool and dry location for no more than 1 month.

Tripoli is a must for anyone doing any serious polishing. I gave this product only 3 stars because of the condition it came in. It was either really old product, and/or it had been kept in a very hot environment. I have never purchased a polishing bar that looked like this. I would have the product replaced, but I am afraid I'm going to get the same thing sent to me.UPDATE 2023-09-12: I contacted Elkay yesterday, and they were very apologetic about the bar's condition. They do not have control over how the bars are stored or handled on the Amazon sites. They promptly ordered a replacement for me, which I should receive soon. I really appreciate their handling of the matter. Because of their support, I am upgrading my review to 5 stars.

I use it, along with White Diamond and Carnauba wax to polish and wax my scroll saw artwork and it does a great job!

This rouge is very decent. It does have a tendency to get very soft and even melt in direct sunlight. Has a higher oil content that the more expensive small jewelry rouge. The only problem I had was it was hard to carry the whole bar. It does break in half super easy. I went through 12 bars on a very heavy oxidized 18 foot airstream. Worked great.

Only complaint, I wish it came in a box, rather than a plastic wrapped (throw away) package.Would be nice to be able to use it, and store it in its own container...made my own 'polishing' box, withplaces for all the compounds...still would be nice to have a box to remember the compound/grit, etc.

DRIED OUT ... EXSPENSIVE...GO TO LOWES AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK. IT'S ONLY THREE BUCKS FOR A SMALLER STICK.
