Works perfectly. I believe the cap should be a smidge wider though. It did overflow once but that’s only because I didn’t cut the hose short on the return line so don’t make that same mistake. Looks good and was worth the price.

Get one of these to follow code, protect your dishwasher from overflows from the sink, and solve the problem of not being able to hear your high end dishwasher.Get this one, in particular, because it has a (thin) brass lid which is 1000x less ugly than a plastic one with chipped off paint.Be sure to get a 7/8 in inside diameter hose to connect it to your garbage disposal. Would have been nice if this came with one.This does the trick, but it would have been nicer if the brass top was slightly thicker, and heavier, and it would have been helpful to a do it yourself for like me if it came with the hose and hose clamps.

It’s Necessary. The law in most states require an air-gap for dishwasher discharge water. Looping the discharge line is no longer code-compliant. When water is noticed in or around the sink and counter area after dishwasher use, it indicates some measure of restriction/clogging. So just imagine that those clogging components (yuk!) got drained back into your dishwasher onto your cleaned dishes. Hazardous. Most often the discharge hose is clogged/restricted at the point where the dishwasher discharge enters the fitting located on the garbage disposal. THEREFORE: If you’re going to start removing hoses, cleaning fittings and garbage disposal, etc; why not also simply replace the air-gap as well? It’s inexpensive and the old one probably hasn’t been changed in quite a while.
