We needed to replace our old broken doorbell. I really like the fact that, they light up so you can see them in the dark. Very easy to install.

The doorbell looks great and the light is just right, not to bright, not to dim.Thankfully an extra back-up (2nd) transparent rear plate was provide with it whichI believe is not mentioned in the add because the first one broke and the doorbell wouldhave been useless. Before I bought it I had doubts about the rear plate as it looked veryfragile and only plastic pins which you have to snap off and on to install it. Even if it comes witha second rear plate, the first one should not have been already snapped on upon delivery becauseupon trying to remove it, that is when the upper broke and when it does, impossible to hold thedoorbell cover…even if the two tiny lower pins are intact. I even checked a video on You-Tube to seehow gently the already installed rear late must be removed, but it is SO, SO fragile that it is practically animpossible task. Should ever I need to removed it again and this time with less manoeuvrability sinceit is close to the wall, for sure it will break again, thus the doorbell will have to go to the garbage. In cases like this, they should make an aluminum or steel rear plate to assure it doesn’t happen toanybody again. Add a couple of bucks more if need be so that those tiny pins don’t break.Plastic is a big thing nowadays and being replaced by metal, steel or aluminum but when it comes to tinydelicate things like this which is a sure thing to break and cannot get spare ones in any store, PLEASE rectifythis annoying problem. Furthermore, not only are the tiny pins so delicate, but upon trying to open thosepins by being extremely gentle with a very small screwdriver, I notice the pin(s) don’t or practically don’t bend thus a very high percentage it will break. The lower 2 small (tiny) pins are simply there so that the cover doorbell sits on them as a support system, but the top one, please add a bendable and strong alternative.

It looks really good, the plastic mounting is kinda cheap, but they give you two and the hardware to put it in wood or masonary. The instructions aren't horrible. I've had it up since I bought it and it's doing fine I kept the spare plate because it was a little flimsy, but so far so good and I have a spare.

Update 6/6: See added picture showing installed button. As noted below (and in other reviews), there is very little space under the button for the wires. I used a piece of wood to space the button away from the wall (I'll paint it later) and it can now latch onto the thin baseplate perfectly. Also remember that one end of the baseplate has two niches that pegs on the housing fit into while the other end has a protruding hook that catches a ridge in the housing. I put the hook end at the bottom so I can attached the top of the housing and then swing it into the hook until it latches.Original:This LED illuminated doorbell button seems to be well built and metal, not plastic. However, when mounted as designed, there is very little space behind the button for you to position the wires, possibly making it impossible to click the button onto its mounting plate if you have an older house with "fat" wires. Also, you should understand that the comment about possibly needing (unsupplied) diodes makes no sense as written and, in fact, I don't think the diodes are ever required. The listing says:"if you use a digital ringtone, diodes are required (not included); If you are using a mechanical doorbell ring, no diode is needed"Doorbells are powered by an AC transformer, LEDs, being diodes, run on DC. Digital chimes, although run off the AC, actually use DC circuitry. That DC is sent to the button, so adding a diode to the circuit doesn't change anything. These buttons will only light up if the "positive" wire is connected to the proper terminal, but you have to find out which is "proper" by trial and error. So connect the button, turn on the power and see if it lights up.Mechanical chimes run on the AC, so AC is sent to the button. Arguably you would need to add a diode to avoid back biasing the LED during 1/2 the AC cycle, but since the back of the button is not marked, you have no way of knowing the orientation of a diode. And in any case, from my experience testing the button with my digital chimes, back biasing at these voltages didn't seem to be a problem. Also, if you pull the circuit board out the housing it appears there is a diode ("D1" built into the button which would eliminate the danger of back biasing for you. There also seems to be a Zener Diode (Zw), which limits the voltage across the LED to about 2V (which is its limit). Finally, other reviewers said you could not remove the button without breaking the plastic base to which it snaps... there is actually a small slot at one end to allow you to unhook the button from the base.

Not cheaply made. Just finished a remodel and addition. The builder put a cheap plastic doorbell on ( will address with them as everything else is great quality and this is the first item guests touch). Got this as it has simple lines. Details are important. Pleased with the look.

The button and housing has a nice finish and feel. The mounting plate is made of plastic. My order did contain 2 of these - which was good, as I broke the first one during installation. The small plastic prong on one end, which latches into the bell button housing from the back, failed.I am not sure that the mounting plate will last long, but will write an update at a later time.
